General Summary

The Executive Director is the of the and is responsible for the overall and direction of the organization in accordance with its vision and mission. S/he advances efforts to clarify, communicate and actualize the mission, vision and values with all stakeholders. The Executive Director works under the general oversight of the Board of Directors.

Overview

The Executive Director provides oversight and overall management, planning, vision and for all aspects of Providence Connections: programs and services, finance, resource development, human resources, fundraising, communications and board development. The Executive Director assumes a leadership role in partnering with collaborating businesses, foundations, government officials, other nonprofits and supporters. The Executive Director works with the Board and Board Committees to establish vision, policies, strategic focus, priorities and general scope of programs the center delivers.

Responsibilities

1. Supports and works with the Board of Directors . The Executive Director takes direction from the Board of Directors and works with the Board to assure that Providence Connections operates with a clear mission and a long-range strategic plan that is consistent with the mission. . Provides leadership in developing Providence Connections as an effective, high quality nonprofit agency. The Executive Director works collaboratively with board members and representatives of other member- based , to strengthen the capacity to provide services and represents Providence Connections’ interest to the larger community. The Executive Director keeps the Board informed about issues and events which impact on the agency. . Keeps the Board of Directors fully informed on conditions, opportunities, issues and challenges for Providence Connections and the environment in which it operates so that the Board can carry out its governance, fiduciary responsibilities, oversight and leadership role. . Collaborates with Board of Directors to develop appropriate operating metrics that guide decision making. . Develops with the Board, on a yearly basis, a work plan for the board to carry forward the strategic plans of the agency. . Provides for the coordination of Board meetings and communications. . Serves as staff member to all Board Committee unless otherwise directed.

2. Management

. Assesses and implements organizational structure that promotes compliance, efficiency and sustainability for Providence Connections, its employees and volunteers. . Provides overall staff direction and supervision; develops a yearly work plan with staff which includes goals, objectives, inputs and outcomes. . Provides ongoing management to assure the organization stays within approved plans and budgets. . Assures that human resource personnel work with employees in a manner which supports a productive, professionally competent work force in an environment respectful of personal well-being and cultural diversity. . Manages Finance and Development / Fundraising. . With Director of Finance, develops annual budget and submits to board for approval. . Develops relationships with major funders and maintains regular communications with them. . Monitors expenditures and income, plans for core budget self-sufficiency. . Maintains capital assets of .

3. Develop and Coordinate Advocacy Efforts . Builds relationships with state and local government officials. . Develops relationships with local and state organizations involved in nonprofit issues.

4. Management of Program and Member Services . Oversees the development of cutting edge capacity building initiative, programs and services as needed. . Ensures program quality and consistency with organizational goals through ongoing evaluation of all programs and services to determine effectiveness and participant and member satisfaction. . Works with Board and staff to develop policies for all program processes (registration policies, cancellation policy etc.). . Oversees development and coordination of events and new programs, publications and website. . Develops and maintains corporate and business relationships.

5. Public Presence of the Nonprofit Sector . Serves as lead spokesperson and speaker for Providence Connections and assures that the organizations mission is properly presented to various publics. . Develops effective and ongoing relationships with media. . Develops relationships with other associations, organizations and persons pertinent to the nonprofit sector, coordinate activities and co-sponsor events.

Education / Experience

 Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.  At least 5 years’ experience in leadership and administration, preferably in a nonprofit organization.
