Position Objective:

The Executive Director of will work across Denver Public Schools to support the development, rollout and systemization of human capital systems that ensure high quality teachers in every classroom and school leaders in every building. Specifically, the Executive Director will be responsible for collaborating across the district to put in place systems to recruit, onboard, support, evaluate, recognize and retain excellent teachers and school leaders that can meet the needs of our students. Moreover, the Executive Director of Talent Management will be responsible for recruitment, teachers and school leader preparation pathways management, implementation of the LEAP and LEAD systems of teacher and school leader evaluation, feedback and growth, development of an employee value proposition and career lattices for teachers and leaders, and teacher and school leader compensation redesign.

Essential Functions:

• Lead the development and operation of best-in-class talent management systems and processes for the recruitment and retention of highly effective teachers and principals. • Provide and coaching to a team of forty, including Teacher Talent Management team, Principal Talent Management Team, Teacher Alternative Preparation Pathways team, and Talent Management Communications. • Ensure collaborative cross-functional relationships are in place to support successful implementation of talent management initiatives with critical partners, including Denver Classroom Teachers’ Association, Teacher Learning and Leadership, Assessment, Department of Technology Services, Instructional Superintendents, Principal Professional Development, and the HR Business Partners. • Develop and implement strategies, systems and training structures to build the capacity of teachers, school leaders and central office staff to effectively utilize performance data to drive human capital decision making. • Oversee development and implementation of efforts to align broad talent management systems to evaluation tools. Lead efforts to redesign educator value proposition and build out revised compensation, retention strategies and career lattices in alignment with a clearly defined and compelling employee value proposition. • Ensure ongoing successful relationships with several national and local funders who support the district’s talent management work, including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Wallace Foundation, the US Department of Education, and the Rose Foundation. • Manage relationships with DPS teacher and school leader preparation partners, including rollout of shared accountability metrics. Oversee internally managed preparation programs for teachers and school leaders and introduce new programs to augment current pipelines. • Ensure alignment across teacher, principal and district talent management strategies and broader HR systems.

Required Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, MS Ed, or JD preferred • 15+ years strategic leadership and management experience, preferably with experience leading the development and management of a growing team in the rollout of new initiative or product. • Experience developing and implementing talent management systems or systemic educational reform initiatives. • Experience with project management and implementation of complex systems. • Experience in planning and facilitating small and large groups to drive shared understanding and ownership. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Experience in analyzing data, and using this data to inform strategy and process/program improvements. • Experience leading a team with multiple levels, both directly and through influence. • Proven leadership skills with the ability to attract, develop, and inspire a team; exceptional ability to bridge and enhance cooperative working relationships Knowledge and Other Qualifications:
