4 CLYDEBANK FC OFFICIAL MATCH PROGRAMME SEASON 2014-15 CLYDEBANK FC OFFICIAL MATCH PROGRAMME SEASON 2014-15 33 Chairman’s Chat It was nice to win our last match with goals to spare. The trip to West Calder in the Scottish Junior Cup could definitely be classed as a "potential banana skin" given the West Lothian side's previous cup results. But on a really heavy pitch, our players rolled their sleeves up Wish Bankies and turned in an impressive performance to win, in the end, quite comfortably. all the best Almost as pleasing as the players' performance for me was the reception our travelling fans for season gave the boys as they walked off the park at the end of the match. It was warm and spirited 2014-2015 and really appreciated by the whole group. There have been one or two matches this sea- son where our application hasn't been what it should and those have been the most disap- pointing. But generally our players have given their lot and have either came up short or sometimes been unlucky. In the last few weeks though, our application has never been in doubt and while we retain that we will always have a fighting chance. One final point about last week that was brought to my attention. Players who were left out of the squad were seen at the match with a "carry-out" and understandably some of our supporters - the lifeblood of our club - were not happy. I share their feelings. By the time you read this, all our players will have been spoken to about what is expected of them and it's not standing at the side of the pitch drinking alcohol. The point won't be laboured but the commitment made by our fans to the formation, development and contin- ued existence of this club demands a certain level of behaviour by the players who wear our colours. I am pleased to say that I do think ALL our players have been great in terms of how they represent the Bankies but in this instance the standards fell short of what we ex- pect. Today we welcome Hurlford United to Holm Park as we chase our first league win. Please give the boys your best support. Gordon Robertson Chairman

But in the remaining seven group ties six victories and Q: Do you remember your first Bankies game and who one draw saw Bankies qualify for the Quarter Finals to play Partick Thistle. The first points dropped of the campaign came in the next match with a 1-1 draw against well looked after by the Bankies fans that day and I was fellow promotion favourites Raith Rovers. In fact Bankies were to remain unbeaten until the 29th of hooked on making more games. November when a 1-0 defeat at home to Berwick saw the start of a mini blip and three of the next four games were lost. With it being a short season of only 26 games, by the time New Years day Q: What is the best match you have seen and why? Difficult to pick really, but I think the title-winning match came along there were only nine League games left. Bankies remained unbeaten in these games against Coltness was quite special. I had started going to the matches in the February of which ended in a title winning draw away to Alloa on the 6th of April. that first season and had witnessed the remarkable run of form the team had put together, As stated before, the League was short of games so a supplementary Spring Cup involving all First and it culminated by leapfrogging Carluke and we won the title in spectacular style. Surprisingly, four wins emotions of the long-serving Bankies fans and what it meant to the club. It wasn't just a against the higher placed sides saw us qualify for the last sixteen and a two legged affair with Albion title win, for those who fought for their club to exist it was a sign that their club was not Rovers. A 4-1 win in the 1st Leg seemed to have Bankies on easy street but a fine 2-0 win for Albion only back, but they were back in style and to compete at this level. saw Bankies just holding on for a Quarter Final spot. East Fife were next and again the first game at Q: Obviously John you've admitted supporting Bankies only in the Juniors, after Kilbowie gave Bankies a lead , this time by 1-0. The same score for the Fifers in the return meant a listening to all us old yins, which game from the Seniors would you liked to have penalty shoot out which we won 4-2. The Semi-Final saw us at neutral Firhill up against our county seen? I've heard a lot of good things about playing Celtic in the Scottish, having made it rivals Dumbarton who had just lost in the Scottish Cup Semis to Hearts, a fine Bankies performance that far, so I think having been there to witness that would've been impressive. I also saw us into the final with a 3-1 win. Alas, the final was to be one step to far against Airdrie. After would've enjoyed witnessing Clydebank's Cooper tormenting Rangers. taking a 1-0 lead Davie Cooper had the chance to tie it up early but missed a penalty. After this it went one way then the other as Airdrie won 4-2 after extra-time. Q: Best player you've seen in a Bankies jersey? It's a tough one really as we've had a Top Scorers few special players over the years, but I'd have to go for Darian MacKinnon. Probably from the warmth of the social club, window seat with a pie and a pint! I find it hard to keep still if I'm not filming, and I'll tend to walk around while spectating.

Q: When you look back in say twenty years time at all your highlights, will you feel quite 1 proud at recording The Bankies history?
