4 CLYDEBANK FC OFFICIAL MATCH PROGRAMME SEASON 2014-15 CLYDEBANK FC OFFICIAL MATCH PROGRAMME SEASON 2014-15 33 Chairman’s Chat Each year it becomes harder and harder to make ends meet. The greater financial demands of the top League, but with fewer games, means it is a real challenge just to stand still. Some fans might not like hearing that, but tough. Wish Bankies The reality is that we are running a part-time football club on a shoestring and the only people we all the best can turn to are the people who care. Money matters in football. It matters most. The teams with the for season most money win the most times. That's how it goes the world over. Of course, it's not the only thing 2014-2015 if it was we would not have finished in the top four and won two cups last year. I rarely mention budgets but I have to say when I hear some fans say they get fed up hearing about money I shake my head. How do you suppose a club with 20-odd part-time employees actually runs if it is not with money? Fresh air? Money is a huge factor in football. This year we have been hit with some horrendous injury problems. Other teams could go out and pay a transfer fee to strengthen. We can't, it's as simple as that. We made an enquiry a few weeks ago for a player valued at £2500. It was wishful thinking. Two other teams were in for the player. One from a lower League offered double the best wage we could offer. The team he went to could pay the fee. We couldn't even compete. I feel sorry for our manager sometimes. He has delivered top four finishes and three cups in the last three seasons, yet he can't go out and pay a transfer fee. I don't normally mention these things but the reaction by some to a run of disappointing results has been extremely disappointing. We have a good group of committed players who I believe will turn the corner soon. They need your support. They don't need a climate of gloom and doom at a poor run of results, or verbal abuse. Back the team and back the club. The people on and off the park at Clydebank FC are committed and capable as they have proved over 11 good years. They deserve better than for some to turn on them after a few disappointing results. As for anyone who has concerns or wants to express a view on any aspect of the club, feel free to contact me. I am available for a chat after any game. Or you cam email the club and I'll call you. It is important that everyone at the club sticks together when times are most testing. Gordon Robertson
