CLYDEBANK FC OFFICIAL MATCH PROGRAMME SEASON 2014-15 Clydebank FC Honours The Boss……………... Looking back on our opening two games in the League, the Glenafton at home and the HONOURS HONOURS SENIOR HONOURS Cumnock away game last week, I thought both were close run encounters which could Intermediate Cup SFL Division 2 have gone either way but the fact that we have only taken one point from them is very disappointing but in my opinion there have been enough positives to suggest that we’re Winners : 1941-42 Winners : 1929-30 Champions : 1975/76 capable of improving on our points tally as the season goes on. Runners-Up : 2008-09 Central League SFL Division 2 I’ve said all along that this season could prove to be the most competitive West Premier Sectional League Cup Champions : Runners-Up : 1997/98 League for many a season and if that is the case we can expect the difference between winning and losing a lot of games to be marginal. I think that is what we have seen in both Winners : 2013-14 1934-35,1940-41,1941-42, Spring Cup games so far. Runners-Up : 2005-06 1944-45,1949-50. Runners-Up : 1975/76 Over both games we have had many good chances yet only got one goal to show for it Central League Cup Intermediate League Stirlingshire Cup and that is a statistic that we will definitely have to improve on. At the other end of the pitch our defending at times in both games has been inconsistent and although we came Winners : 1932-33,1934-35, Winners : 1929-30 Winners : 1978/79 & 1979/80 out of the Cumnock game last week with a clean sheet, we had to rely on Robert Hamilton 2009-10, 2011-12, 2013-14 Pompey Cup Semi-Finalists pulling off a couple of good saves in the second half to gain our first point. 1989/90 West of Cup Winners : 1951-52,1960-61 Junior Record Victory Winners : 1949-50 Evening Times Cup Today we welcome Irvine Meadow and I’m sure I don’t have to tell you how hard a task it 9-1 v Thorniewood Runners-Up : 1938-39,1955-56 Winners : 1934-35,1940- will be. Stevie Rankin has done a fantastic job at Meadow since taking over last season 41,1941-42,1944-45, 1949-50. Junior Record Defeat and they are a very hard side to play against. The fact that they have won their opening Super League Div. 1 two fixtures will , I’m sure, mean that this season will be no different and that they will be Runners –Up : Runners-Up : 2010-11 1-6 v Renfrew challenging once again at the top end of the table. 1942-43,1948-49,1952-53 Central League Div. 1 Senior Record Victory Please get behind our lads and give them as much vocal backing as possible. SENIOR HONOURS Runners-Up : 2006-07 8-1 v Arbroath SFL Division 1 Central League Div. 2 Senior Record Defeat Onwards and upwards, Runners-Up : 1976/77 & Champions : 2003-04 1-9 v Gala Fairydean 1984/85 Billy McGhie

4 CLYDEBANK FC OFFICIAL MATCH PROGRAMME SEASON 2014-15 CLYDEBANK FC OFFICIAL MATCH PROGRAMME SEASON 2014-15 33 Chairman’s Chat Two tough opening matches have seen us pick up one point and given us a hint of the standard required for the season ahead. Against Glenafton Athletic a fortnight ago we were excellent in the first half and should Wish Bankies have been ahead with goals to spare. Unfortunately we didn't make the most of our first half dominance and were denied a clear penalty. After the break we defended the situation all the best poorly, were punished and consequently lost the game. for season What can we take from it? 2014-2015 Well, the first 45 was as good as we've played since our arrival in the top league and I think that is a real positive for the weeks to come. Last week was a different kind of game. We were less easy on the eye than the Glens game and had no complaint over the final outcome. They had the better of the chances in the second half and we leaned heavily on Robert Hamilton. But in the first half, I thought we created the better openings so a draw was a fair result.

Hopefully, those who use social media have enjoyed David Brockett's recent efforts on Twitter and on Facebook, as well as keeping the news section of the website updated. David has taken on the responsibility of posting club news through the week. I think he has done a great job so far and we are delighted to have him on board.

Thanks to all those who turned up at the AGM and backed the proposal to merge the Trust and Club boards. I think it is important that we have all the people making decisions about the club sitting around the one table. The move is all about efficiency - saving time and money - and I'm glad the membership overwhelmingly recognised where both boards are coming from.

Today we welcome Irvine Meadow to Holm Park for what will be another tough match against Ayrshire opponents. Please give the players your best support and I hope you enjoy the match.

It shows how many seasons each club has played in the top League, and also their total number of games and what their averages are. Average goals for, against and average points per game. Clubs taking part this season are highlighted in red. Very interesting reading Alex, what about a League table for all teams with matches won, drawn, lost and total points. Get it Done!

Central League Cup - Bankies are the current holders and 3 times winners in the last 5 seasons.

Charnley - Chic was the typical flawed genius. He will probably be remembered less for his 31 appearances and 11 goals, and more for decking Tony Gervaise!

Campbell - Ross started 141 times for Bankies, only Mark Hailstones and Martin McInnes bettered that record at junior level.

Cooper - Davie was the greatest player ever to pull on a Bankies jersey and one of the most talented players ever produced in Scotland. Unbelievably it will be 20 years in march since we tragically lost Davie.

Coyle - Owen was sold for a whopping £175,000 in 1990 after an impressive record of 33 goals in only 63 appearances.

Columba - Coyle's little known middle name!

Community stadium - all our fingers are still crossed! SPONSORED BY MR.FIXIT’S TIPS www.mrfixitstips.co.uk

Crawford - Jon began his career at and then returned in 2003 to help Bankies win the championship.

Cappielow - our temporary home in our final days 3 seasons as a senior club from 1999 to 2002.

Cook - Barry booked Paul Allum twice in 2 minutes, both times for persistent fouling! Worst refereeing performance ever?

Conroy - Mike played for the Bankies in the late 80's scoring 38 times in 114 appearances.

Cyan - would've preferred banana yellow myself!
