The Commission has installed a telex with an automatic answering device which gives the conversion rates in a number of currencies . This service is available every day from 3.30 p.m . until 1 p.m . the following day. Users of the service should do as follows : — call telex number Brussels 23789 ; — give their own telex code ; — type the code 'cccc' which puts the automatic system into operation resulting in the transmission of the conversion rates of the ecu ; — the transmission should not be interrupted until the end of the message, which is marked by the code *ffff\ Note: The Commission also has an automatic telex answering service (No 21791 ) and an automatic fax answering service (No 296 10 97) providing daily data concerning calculation of the conversion rates applicable for the purposes of the common agricultural policy.

Commission communication concerning imports into the Community of certain textile products (category 97) originating in the People's Republic of China (94/C 54/03)

By virtue of Article 10 (3) of Council Regulation (EEC) No 3030/93 of 12 October 1993 on import rules for imports of certain textile products from third countries (*), as last amended by Commission Regulation (EC) No 195/94 (2), the Commission has presented to the Chinese authorities a request dated 8 February 1994 for consultations with a view to reaching an agreement or joint conclusions on a suitable level of limitation for imports into the Community of category 97 products originating in the People's Republic of China. Pending a mutually satisfactory solution, the Commission has asked the Chinese authorities to limit for a provisional period of three months starting on 8 February 1994 exports of category 97 products to the Community to 174 tonnes .

Following the publication of a notice of impending of 1993 alone the volume was already 74 % of the total expiry in the Official Journal of the European for 1992 . On 11 February 1994, the Commission received a notification of a proposed concen tration pursuant to Article 4 of Council Regulation (EEC) No 4064/89 (*) by which the undertakings Promotora de Informaciones SA (Prisa) belonging to the Spanish group Promotora de Publicaciones (Propu), Editoriale l'Espresso SpA (Espresso) controlled by the Italian Holding Company Compagnie Industriali Riunite (CIR) and Mirror Group Newspapers pic (MGN) seek to acquire within the meaning of Article 3 ( 1 ) (b) of the Council Regulation joint control of the undertaking Newspaper Publishing pic (NP) by way of a public bid announced on 4 February 1994 . 2 . The business activities of the undertakings concerned are : — for Prisa : Media holding company with interests in publishing companies, radio stations and a pay TV broadcaster, — for Espresso : Italian holding company with interests in newspaper publishing and radio broadcasting, — for MGN : newspaper publishing and printing, — for NP : newspaper publishing in the UK. 3 .
