Tea - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia 03-11-09 12:04 Tea From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Tea is the agricultural product of the leaves, leaf buds, and internodes of the Camellia sinensis plant, prepared and cured by various methods. "Tea" also refers to the aromatic beverage prepared from the cured leaves by combination with hot or boiling water,[1] and is the common name for the Camellia sinensis plant itself. After water, tea is the most widely-consumed beverage in the world.[2] It has a cooling, slightly bitter, astringent flavour which many enjoy.[3] The four types of tea most commonly found on the market are black tea, oolong tea, green tea and white tea,[4] all of which can be made from the same bushes, processed differently, and in the case of fine white tea grown differently. Pu-erh tea, a post-fermented tea, is also often classified as amongst the most popular types of tea.[5] Green Tea leaves in a Chinese The term "herbal tea" usually refers to an infusion or tisane of gaiwan. leaves, flowers, fruit, herbs or other plant material that contains no Camellia sinensis.[6] The term "red tea" either refers to an infusion made from the South African rooibos plant, also containing no Camellia sinensis, or, in Chinese, Korean, Japanese and other East Asian languages, refers to black tea. Freshness And Quality: We buy tea directly from more growers than any other tea company focused on restau- rants, hotels and specialty grocers. When you receive your tea shipment, it will have been tasted for quality control, blend- ed, flavored, and packed within days of shipping it to you. Our tea is always packed in oxygen barrier containers to keep its freshness for as long as possible. For example, our iced tea filter bags are packed in ten-count, foil-lined oxygen barrier zipper bags, before they are packed in a case. Other tea purveyors bulk pack their iced tea filter bags in a plastic bag lined corrugated case with very little oxygen barrier qualities. Waterfall’s recipes are only created using a base tea that works best for the intended use in a food service environment. Whether you choose a black, green, white, herbal, conventional or organic, tea, you’ll know it will taste crisp, clean, refreshing, with complex flavors pleasing to your customers pallets. You will also know that our tea will look the way Why Waterfall Teas it should and won’t need the sweeteners that drive up your food cost. Value And Experience: Since we buy so much of our tea direct from the growers, were able to give you better quality tea at prices that will help your food cost and increase your overall margins. Our tea experts have specialized in the food service, hospitality and specialty grocery industries for most of their careers, allowing us to source and develop products knowing how to bring out the best in using the abilities and constraints you have available. -
