Short-Term Exchange of Schools - 18-22 February, 2019

Monday – 18 February, 2019

9.00 Pick up from B&B – Exchange students arrive at school with their host brothers and sisters 9.15 – 9.40 Lecture Theatre – Official welcome: welcome address by Ms Maria Grazia Angelini, Head Teacher of Polo Liceale “R. Mattioli”; the “R. Mattioli” orchestra conducted by Mr Mariani will play the European anthem. All Italian project students will be present 9:40 – 10.30 Lecture Theatre – All the participants introduce themselves and their schools – The importance of STEM education - PPT and videos presenting Vasto and the hosting school 10.30 – 11.00 Guided tour of the school with the Italian project students 11.00 – 11.20 Coffee Break 11.20 – 12.00 Physics Lab – “What do you know about the EU?”, team game on History and Geography for students and teachers.“Popular survival phrases and gestures in Italian”, language lesson for students and teachers . Both activities coordinated by Mr Vicoli and Ms D’Angelo with class 3A. 12.10 – 13.00 Room 37 - “Let’s sing the European anthem together”, singing lesson with Ms Tania Buccini (students) Physics Lab – Teacher Training: Flipped Classroom 13.00 – 16.00 Free time for lunch – Students staying with host families go home for lunch 16.15 – 18.00 Meet in Piazza Rossetti (central square) near the statue to start the visit to Vasto town centre (Art – History); participants will play games and solve riddles to discover the main sights of the city. Activity coordinated by Ms D’Angelo and Ms Orsatti with Italian project students 18.30 Town Hall – Welcome address by the Mayor of Vasto, Mr Francesco Menna 20.00 Dinner at local restaurant La Pergola (teachers) - Dinner with host families (students)

Tuesday – 19 February, 2019

8.00 Pick up from B&B – Students staying with host families arrive at school with their host brothers and sisters 8.15 Board private coach outside the school and depart for Roccascalegna 8.30 – 18.00 Day trip to Roccascalegna, san Giovanni in Venere and Trabocchi Coast (Art – History – Geography - Local traditions) with Italian project students – Accompanying teachers: Ms Orsatti and Ms Savino 9.30 – 12.30 Guided tour of Roccascalegna and its castle 13.00 Lunch at “Il Vecchio Moro”, local rural restaurant. The participants will also learn how to make “pasta alla chitarra” and “catarrette”, typical specialties from 16.00 – 17.00 Visit San Giovanni in Venere Abbey and see the Trabocchi Coast (guided tour with Mr Paolucci) 18.00 Return to Vasto – Host families pick up students from Piazza De Gasperi 20.00 Dinner at local restaurant (teachers) - Dinner with host families (students)

Wednesday – 20 February, 2019

8.00 Pick up from B&B. Students arrive at school with their host brothers and sisters 8.10 – 11.00 ICT Lab - STEM workshop (Physics) with Mr Micucci (8.10-11.00) and Mr Calvano (9.10-11.00). Mr De Luca from the English Department and Italian project students 9.10 – 11.00 Physics Lab – Teachers’ meeting 11.00 – 11.20 Coffee Break 11.20 – 12.10 Blue Room – Folk dances with Ms Colonna and class 3 LM (Local traditions) 12.10 – 13.00 Gym – sports games with Ms Colonna and Mr Nelli 13.00 – 15.00 Blue Room – Lunch with the Italian Erasmus+ project team (teachers and students) 15.00 – 17.00 ICT Lab - STEM workshop (Maths) with Ms Sarchione, Ms Bellano and Ms Ialacci. Ms Lucia Assini from the English Department and Italian project students Physics Lab – Teachers’ meeting 20.00 Dinner at fish restaurant in Termoli (teachers) - Dinner with host families (students)

Thursday – 21 February, 2019

7.15 Pick up from B&B. Host families take students to Piazza De Gasperi 7.30 – 21.00 Day trip to Naples with Italian project students (Art – History – Geography) - Accompanying teachers: Ms Mileti and Mr Palombo 21.00 Return to Vasto. Host families pick up students from Piazza De Gasperi

Friday – 22 February, 2019

9.00 Pick up from B&B. Students arrive at school with their host brothers and sisters 9.10 – 11.00 ICT Lab and Science Lab - STEM workshop (Science) with Mr Berarducci, and Ms Lalli. Mr De Luca from the English Department and Italian project students Physics Lab – Teachers’ meeting 11.00 – 11.20 Coffee Break 11.20 – 12.10 Curricular lessons with the Italian project students 12.10 – 13.00 Lecture Theatre – Closing ceremony with attendance certificates and exchange of gifts. All Italian project students will be present 13.00 – 17.30 Free time for lunch – Students staying with host families go home for lunch 17.45 Meet outside Palazzo D’Avalos 18.00 – 19.00 Visit the Palace and its museums (Art and History) with Italian project students 19.30 Meet at Agriturismo Montevecchio – Farewell Dinner
