Beset by orcs and elven resistance to surface expansion, the dwarvres of Sarphil tunnelled under what is now Mulmaster, going deep to pass under the Lis. Their delves, sought by adventurers in the Mulmaster region, are called ‘The Lost Ways, Dwarves of Sarphil developed special moving-stone pumps to keep the waters of the Lis at bay, as they extended their underways westwards to the rocky heights north of present-day Elventree. The Scarp sought by the dwarves is today much reduced in height; the dwarves quarried it from the top down for its rich veins of copper. They were perhaps the purest and largest deposits in the known North. The elves of the Elven Court resented this intrusion, and repeatedly attacked the dwarves. Before their numbers and magic, the dwarves were forced back. In the end they had to abandon the entire southern shore arm of Sarphil, retreating east and north into the mountains. The only trace they left behind is the name of the city of Hillsfar, after Clan Hillsafar of Sarphil, principal miners of the Scarp, Clan Hillsafar can be found today in the land of Vaasa, on the other side of the Dragonspine Mountains. Sarphil was founded by Nilythra Namarforge, who became its first Queen. Her son, Raulauntar, proved to be an able and astute warrior, and is said to have personally slain over 20,000 ogres, as he defended the fledgling realm against attack. Sarphil’s fall is a story common to most of the other Lost Kingdoms; its warriors were too few to hold what they had seized, and faced too many enemies. The last king of Sarphil was Dauringogh “the Doomed.” He disappeared in deep caverns under Mount Throndor, in the Dragonspine Mountains just south and east of Glister, as duergar and drow, in a rare alliance of the depths, harried the Sarphilan warriors northwards. Sarphil never had clear borders. Its hastily-abandoned caverns, the Lost Ways and all of the many linked caves and passages that honeycomb the Dragonspine Mountains, are said to hold enough wealth to buy at least six kingdoms (or so the minstrels say). The Sign of the Realm was a crossed (double-ended) pick and hammer, above an anvil. It can be seen to this day cut into the westernmost face of the Scarp, facing Hillsfar across the bay. Bestiary of the Realms: Volume 2 by Thomas M. Costa and Eric L. Boyd Art by Noëlle Triaureau Editorial assistance from Joe “Warlockco” Weber A NOTE FROM THE AUTHORS Welcome to volume two of the Bestiary of the Realms. As this is our second volume, you’ll find several score new or converted monsters, as well as a few different interpretations of monsters that have already been converted. A word of caution, just as many official 3E and 3.5E monsters did not slavishly follow earlier write-ups of those monsters, neither do the monsters herein. Instead, we did our best to consider all sources, hopefully make full and creative use of the 3.5E rules (including non-core WotC books), and in many cases add a little bit here and there to many of the monsters, even if it was in only adding or updating their Realms lore. A few have even been renamed. One last note, we’ve done our best to include source references for all things where appropriate, except those found in the three core rulebooks or Expanded Psionics Handbook. Until then, Sword High! – Thomas M. Costa and Eric L. Boyd ABOUT THE AUTHORS Thomas M. Costa is a senior analyst with the Government Accountability Office. He has been a contributor to several Wizards of the Coast products including Demihuman Deities and Races of Faerûn, and is the author of several Dragon Magazine and Wizards of the Coast website articles. He can be reached at [email protected]. Eric L. Boyd is a software designer and freelance game designer.

(Westgate, Vilhon Reach) This Thick Red Wine Is Often Served with A

WESTGATE RUBY WINE: (Westgate, Vilhon Reach) This thick red wine is often served with a small ruby in it, (although only in the finest feast-halls of Westgate.) It is a stronger wine served throughout Cormyr, the Vilhon Reach and the Sword Coast. WINTER WINE: (Neverwinter, the Sword Coast) A common white wine made in the North and sold in other cold climates. This surprisingly strong tasting (although not quite effecting) wine is often drunk by nobility but can be found in smaller taverns in the North, Sword Coast and northern parts of Amn. ALES ANGEL'S LIGHT ALE: (Mount Celestia) The glowing white ale has an unbelievable sweet taste but is rather light, even for its name. It is brewed in the golden fields of Mount Celestia and but is only common in Sigil, although some barrels of the drink have appeared in various Realms. When drunk this ale gives the imbiber a glow equal to a light spell. ATHKATHLIC ALE: (Athkatla, Amn) Also know as Amnish Ale, this poor quality brown ale brewed in huge amounts and often put onto ships for Amnish sailors, thus it is often popular with sailing folk and sometimes referred to as “Ship's Ale”. It has a bitter and dull taste. It is found in Amn, Tethyr, the Sword Coast and the Amnian colonies of Maztica. BITTER BLACK ALE: (Iriaebor, the Sword Coast) A very popular drink known for it's bitter taste and black color. This drink is often the favorite of wandering adventurers and can be found in the Sword Coast, Amn, Tethyr, the North, the Vilhon Reach and even in Cormyr.
  • The High History of Impiltur

    The High History of Impiltur

THE HIGH HISTORY OF IMPILTUR by George Krashos with Ed Greenwood, Eric Boyd & Steven Schend For the scribes of Candlekeep This work stands as testament to their interest, inspiration, encouragement and love of the Realms. The history of Impiltur and its four great dynasties spans more than an age. Born in the shadow of the demon-tainted realm of Narfell, the kingdom owes its roots to the continual human diaspora that was a feature of the Chondathan race. The melding of Chondathan and Nar cultures that followed secured the solid foundation that would see our kingdom dominate the Easting Reach and nurture the founding of such kingdoms as Milvarn, Velprin, Aglarond and Damara. Beset by a myriad of foes, most notably the dark legacy of fiends left behind after the fall of Narfell, the men and women of Impiltur have braved and tamed this land, and in so doing have endured Talona’s dire regard, the depredations of the orcs and the scourge of the hobgoblins. Now with the crowning of a new king, Impiltur must wake from its somnolence and prepare itself to once again seize the mantle of greatness that many had considered lost to it forever. A golden age looms on the horizon, for as surely as the sun rises of a morn, so too must Impiltur’s glorious history be made and remade anew as the seasons turn and heroes stand tall. Relamphras, Royal Sage of Impiltur The Regency Annals Year of the Lightning Storms (1374 DR) - The Foehammer has blessed us on this day of blades, and while we have bathed in scarlet, we now bask in glory.

Dungeons&Dragons Collectors Checklist by Richard © 2001, version 2.7 Well met and welcome to the Collectors Checklist! I made this checklist for myself to keep track of what TSR products I own. Many times was I in the position to photocopy (“Xerox”) a module or booklet that the owner didn’t wish to sell. So gradually my collection expanded with not only genuine products but also with photocopies. Since the coming of the officially digitized classic products (PDF) it is even harder to keep track of what product you own in what format. With the Collectors Checklist you will be able to sort your whole Dungeons&Dragons collection, no matter what the format is! For those out there who haven’t got a clue, here’s how to use the Collectors Checklist: TSR-Code : The product’s publishing code Sub-Code : When a product belongs to a specific group of products it carries this code Title : The product’s title (dah!) Hardcopy : Check this if you have the original item Copy : Check this if you have a copy (Xeroxcopy for instance) of the original product PDF : Check this if you have a digital copy(.pdf/.doc/etc.) of the original product HINT: you can even write down the number when you own more than one copy of a product ; ) If you think any items are missing, please mail me at [email protected] . Feel free to copy/share/print this list. Please visit these websites for the best Dungeons&Dragons archives on the Internet : http://www.acaeum.com http://home.flash.net/~brenfrow/index.htm .
