The Big A Hosts MISAC Southern Chapter

Nearly 50 MISAC Southern Chapter members attended the most recent chapter meeting held at Angels Stadium (the Big A) in Anaheim, California, home of Major League ’s of Anaheim. Attendees were treated to breakfast, three well-received training sessions, a chapter meeting, a ballpark lunch, and a stadium tour.

The festivities began with an 8:00 AM continental breakfast followed at 9:00 AM with a presentation by Reduxio. Attendees learned more about the company’s cache-based storage arrays that are capable of providing restores of data that are as granular as up to one second ago!

Next up to bat was a 10:00 AM presentation by Amazon Web Services that covered many of the services AWS has in their cloud as well as going over their ins and outs of creating a “data lake” for customer entities.

After waiting on deck for the first two presentations, Jory Wolf was brought up to the plate. Wolf is the former CIO for the City of Santa Monica and now works as the VP of Digital Innovation for Magellan Advisors. His presentation was about the importance of wireless ordinances and he provided some tips on how to create them and how they will be impacted if SB 649 is signed into law.

With the triple play of presentations complete, attendees turned their attention to the always anticipated door prize raffle. Winners walked away with contributions from Reduxio, Angels memorabilia, and two pairs of Angels game tickets.

Following lunch, attendees took a walking tour of the stadium that included the Gene Autry Suite, the visiting team clubhouse, and a view from of one of the dugout suites (ka-ching, ka- ching!). The tour culminated with a walk out onto the field.
