The Grounds It is located on flood plains and surrounded by farmland (Mainly Sheep and Arable). It enjoys all of nature, with much wildlife, bunnies; wasps; owls; bats; etc. The land drains well, but is also keep to wet. There are many trees and the management ensure these are checked and managed reglaurly. There is fences around the water courses, but land does slip occasionaly, so we warn those hiring to be extra careful near the water course edges. The grounds has a shooting range, and the Group has Archery equipment and qulifed staff to hire. Mobile coverage is usually fine in the area, but worthwhile checking The Hut It is an old hut, it has 3 entrances, 2 toliets, 3 sinks, store room, wood heater, and kitchen area. Kitchen has 2 sinks, work surfaces. The sinks must NOT have food put down them. Kitchen and toliets require cleaning resources being brought (Including Toliet role) these must also be cleaned after use. There is a first aid kit and accident book – please inform us if it is used. Store room, this is used for the group. The group is fine with this equipment being used as long as it is replaced if broken. The store room must be kept tidy. There are two bins, but bin bags will be required. ALL RUBBISH MUST BE TAKEN AWAY. The hut is supplied with a generator – this is currently for the group use only. Originally in Easingwold’s New Inn Yard it is believed to date from the 1930s. It was used by the Ministry of Food and later became Easingwold’s labour exchange. It was donated to the scouts who secured planning consent to erect it in its present position with the addition of a toilet and washroom area. Future: The group are rasiing funds for future changes. It is hoped that we will obtain Main water supply, increasing the water pressure. We hope to reclad and decorate the main hut. We hope to add another woodcabin with showers and toliets, with Hot water and power. The group does not intend this to be an indoor centre, but continue as outdoor centre with ammenities for camping and outdoor activities, which will make it more desirable to hire for groups.
