The study material comprises leaves fragments The record of the genus Rubidgea in Brazil was first preserved as impressions, previously included in the morphogenus mentioned by Cazzulo-Klepzig et al. (1980) for the Itararé Rubidgea because of their supposed gangamopterid venation pattern, Group of the Rio Grande do Sul state, and it is represented lacking anastomoses. However, re-evaluation of this material showed by a specimen classified as Rubidgea sp. Later, Rubidgea that these leaves bear at some degree, rare anastomoses along the lamina. Based on this observation, we proposed that these leaves obovata Maithy (1965) and Rubidgea lanceolatus Maithy should be transferred to the morphogenus Gangamopteris, which (1965) were illustrated and reported for the outcrops displays this type of venation. -

Equisetalean fossil plant remains of Early to Middle Triassic age from New South Wales are described. Robust and persistent nodal diaphragms composed of three zones; a broad central pith disc, a vascular cylinder and a cortical region surrounded by a sheath of conjoined leaf bases, are placed in Nododendron benolongensis n.sp. The new genus Townroviamites is erected for stems previously assigned to Phyllotheca brookvalensis which bear whorls of leaves forming a narrow basal sheath and the number of leaves matches the number of vascular bundles. Finely striated stems bearing leaf whorls consisting of several foliar lobes each formed from four to seven linear conjoined leaves are described as Paraschizoneura jonesii n.sp. Doubts are raised about the presence of the common Permian Gondwanan sphenophyte species Phyllotheca australis and the Northern Hemisphere genus Neocalamites in Middle Triassic floras of Gondwana. SUMMARY The proposed holiday housing development on Portion 3 of Farm 695 (Clippety Clop), Kwelera, East London, is situated on the northern banks of the tidal Kwelera River, some 20 km northeast of East London, Eastern Cape. The development footprint is largely underlain by Late Permian continental sediments of the Adelaide Subgroup (Lower Beaufort Group, c. 253-251 million years old). These rocks are overlain by Early Triassic sandstones of the Katberg Formation (Tarkastad Subgroup) that build the cliffs and higher ground to the northeast. South of the river the Beaufort Group sediments are intruded and baked by Early Jurassic igneous intrusions of the Karoo Dolerite Suite. The Balfour Formation fluvial sediments are potentially fossiliferous, having yielded elsewhere a wide range of terrestrial vertebrates (bones and teeth of pareiasaurs, therapsids, amphibians et al.), bivalves, trace fossils and vascular plants. The overall impact of this project on local palaeontological heritage is likely to be very minor, however, because the potentially fossiliferous Beaufort Group sediments here are (a) deeply weathered, (b) sparsely fossiliferous, (c) have probably been extensively baked by nearby dolerite intrusions, and (d) are mostly covered with a thick (> 3m) mantle of fossil-poor alluvium. No fossils were observed within good exposures of the Balfour Formation rocks at the coast and in excellent roadcuts inland. -

A recent reexamination of the type material revealed an unusual taphonomic feature which is characterized by the lateral folding of the leaf lamina under itself. This fact leads to a new interpretation of the leaf shape from a lanceolate-spathulate to a more ovate to obovate outline. -

Turkey Abstract: The present study deals with the systematic description of macro and miofloral analysis ofGangamopteris rajaensis and Glossopteris indica from the carbonaceous shale-coal bearing sequences of the Rajmahal Open Cast Mine, Rajmahal Basin, Jharkhand, India. The floral diversity, age correlation, and the paleoenvironment of the Barakar Formation were well described. Morphological analysis revealed the reticulate venation pattern, anastomosing of veins, and the absence of the midrib in Gangamopteris rajaensis. The recovered megafloral assemblages of Gangamopteris rajaensis and Glossopteris indica suggest a late early Permian (Artiskian-Kungurian) age for the Barakar strata of Rajmahal coal mine and the prevalence of a moderately warm climate during their deposition. Earlier the species was reported from the Barakar Formation of Damodar and Mahanadi Gondwana basins in India. However, this is the first detailed systematic investigation of this species from the Rajmahal Gondwana Basin, Jharkhand, India.
