Wirral Classic Car Club at Gordale Nurseries Sunday 20 September 2015 Michael O'Donnell 1915 Ford Model T The first mass produced car with interchangeable parts it sold over fifteen million units between 1908 and 1927. Terry Cook 1923 Rolls Royce 20 horse power First registered in Birkenhead in 1923 it retains its original body. Colin Lambert 1924 Buick 24/44 Roadster A large 6 cylinder engine makes this an impressive motor car, immaculately restored. CLASS A Nick Brough 1936 Brough Superior Nick Brough is a distant relation of the maker of this car which uses an America engine in a European chassis. Cliff Foster 1936 Riley Lynx A four seat tourer version of the Riley Nine with a 1087 c.c. four cylinder engine. PRE- Paul Graham 1937 Morris 12/4 Using the RAC Horse Power rating of 12 based solely on the bore of the engine the 12/4 (the 4 refers to 4 cylinders) had a c.c. of 1548. Anne Williamson 1937 Austin 7 Ruby Present owner since 1971. Home restoration completed in 2007 and now does 1,000 miles a year. Leonard Fleet 1937 Austin 7 Ruby Later more sophisticated development of the famous Austin 7. WAR Malcolm Brewer 1938 Buick Century This big Buick can reach 100 m.p.h. Peter Madge 1948 Alvis TA14 DHC This was an example of the first post-war Alvis with an 1892 c.c. engine available in saloon or, as in this case ,as a drophead coupe.. Frank Breen 1949 Citroen Light 15 Originally imported from South Africa. Right hand drive Citroens were built in Slough. Syd Broad 1950 Jaguar Mark V Jaguar Mark V’s were built from 1948 to 1951 but retained the pre-war Jaguar drive line and engine. Dave White 1951 Riley RMA This car was presented to Victor Riley on his retirement by Lord Nuffield. The Riley RM cars are the last Riley designed vehicles. CLASS B John Hughes 1954 Riley RME Cabriolet This car was made into a Cabriolet and is a later version of the RM Series. Dennis Pickering 1955 Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire Mark II It was found derelict in 1985 and restored over six years. It has been used by the present owner for European travel. David Woods 1955 Austin A30 This was a very modern design at the time introduced just before the merger with Morris creating BMC. 1945 Bob Bentley 1956 Bentley S1 Owned from new by the Mayor of Epping and bought and re-furbished by Bob in 1998. Geoff Bell 1957 Austin A35 The A35 had a 948 cc engine instead of the original “A” Series 803 c.c. used in the A30. David Thomas 1958 Jaguar XK150 DHC Final version of the XK Series before the E Type was introduced. TO Ian Gaskill 1958 Alvis TD21 Drophead This is an early example of the TD, number 13 out of 784. It was owned by the present owner’s father for many years. Dave Smith 1958 Vauxhall Cresta Vauxhall fanatic Dave Smith has owned a few Vauxhall Crestas. This is the PA model introduced in 1957. Blair Percival 1960 Morris Mini Minor One of the very first of the famous Mini’s, in original condition including painted in BMC Cherry Red. 1960 Graham Allen 1960 Berkeley T60 Berkeley produced a range of small cars and three wheelers powered by motorcycle engines. Paul Youd 1960 MGA The MGA replaced the TF Midget and most were exported only 5869 of the 101081 being sold in the UK. Frank Pugh 1960 Hillman Minx Series IIIB The Audax body designed Hillman Minx’s were made from 1956 to 1967. Graham Williamson 1960 Lotus Elite Mark 14 A sports racing car with a tuned Coventry Climax engine and a competition history. Note yellow rocker box cover indicating a high level of tune. David Hughes 1961 Rover P4 Rover P4’s were made from 1949 to 1964 with various engine sizes. They are a popular mid range luxury saloon. John White 1961 Hillman Minx This is a convertible version of the popular Hillman Minx. Tony O'Brien 1962 Jaguar E Type E Type Jaguars were made between 1961 and 1975 and this is therefore a very early version. John Williams 1963 Austin Cambridge A60 The A60 had a 1.6 litre version of the BMC “B” Series engine was introduced in 1961 and sold solidly with its other badge engineered BMC models. Ken Glass 1963 Rover 110 Last and biggest of the Rover P4’s the 110 offered a more powerful version of Rover’s 2.6 litre inlet over exhaust vave engine. Cliff Heald 1964 MGB Roadster Replacing the MGA the B was in production from 1962 to 1980. The 1798 c.c. version of the BMC B Series engine produced 95 b.h.p. Geoff Sharp 1965 MG Midget Mark II This car is one owner from new and has completed many journeys including a trip over the Alps. CLASS C Gary McKelvey 1966 Vauxhall Victor 101 A rare .estate version of the Victor with a detailed history and original mileage. Glyn Davies 1971 Rover P5 This is the final version of the P5 with 3528 c.c. engine of Buick origin. Sue Langley 1971 Morris Minor Traveller One of the most popular and useful of classics, with plenty of storage space. POST Peter Greenland 1971 MGB Roadster Another MGB, this is a Mark II version with detail changes from the Mark I. Ralph Wilson 1971 Jaguar E Type The E-Type Series 3 was introduced in 1971, with a new 5.3 litre twelve-cylinder Jaguar V12 engine. Steve Anderson 1971 Morris Minor Traveller It cost £300 and then was restored in five weeks in a lock up garage. 1960 John Dodd 1971 Triumph Spitfire The Spitfire Mark IV (1970-1974) had a revised suspension system that made for safer handling than earlier versions. Steve McGuinness 1972 Triumph TR6 This TR6 is the final development of the TR series of cars before the totally different Triumph TR7 appeared. Ted Smith 1972 Morris 1100 Developed from the Mini this was one of the most popular British small cars of its time with the famous hydrolastic suspension system. Sandra Mander 1972 VW Beetle A 1972 model of the famous Beetle. Morris Nevin 1972 Rover P6 3500S Restored by Morris in 2006, the car has travelled the UK and France. Fraser John 1972 Ford Capri Mk1 The Capri was produced from 1969 to 1986 as a fastback coupe with a range of engine sizes. Sean O'Callaghan 1973 Ford Escort The Mark I Ford Escort was produced from 1968 to 1975 and was one of the most successful models in a range of engine sizes.. James Smythe 1973 Fiat 500F The F or Berlina model was produced from 1965 to 1973. Barry James 1973 MGB Roadster This Mark III version of the B is one of the last to use chrome bumpers before changes in 1974 to rubber bumpers and increased ride height. Steve Mansell 1975 MGBGT This is an anniversary model celebrating 50 years of MG cars. Only 391 of the 701 built survive. Ronald Shrimpton 1976 Triumph Stag Supplied new by Lex Service Group in London and owned by the first keeper for over 30 years. John Pidsley 1978 Triumph Dolomite 1300 The 1300 was a replacement for the Toledo and was the basic model in the range. Wirral Classic Car Club at Gordale Nurseries Sunday 20 September 2015 This event is kindly sponsored by Gordale Nurseries. The pre-entered cars are in place by 11 a.m. and are judged by independent judges in three classes based on age of vehicle and a first, second and third prize will be awarded in each class. The judges criteria this year is on a "reflecting the era basis" and apart from well turned out cars the attire of the occupants and information of interest to the public will be taken into account. The prize-giving is at 2.30 p.m. Please feel free to peruse the vehicles and chat to the owners. Gordale Garden and Home Centre is situated on Chester High Road, Burton, South Wirral, Cheshire, CH64 8TF. It offers the most comprehensive range of products and facilities in the area. Wirral Classic Car Club is the largest and most prominent old car club in the area and organises a number of events including the famous Wirral Historic Vehicle Rally in July. It has monthly meetings on the last Wednesday of the month at Heswall British Legion, Pensby Road, Heswall.
