List of Vehicle Owners Clubs V765/1 List of Vehicle Owners Clubs N.B. The information contained in this booklet was correct at the time of going to print. The most up to date version is available on the internet website: www.gov.uk/vehicle-registration/old-vehicles 11/13 V765 scheme How to register your vehicle under its original registration number: a. Applications must be submitted on form V765 and signed by the keeper of the vehicle agreeing to the terms and conditions of the V765 scheme. A V55/5 should also be filled in and a recent photograph of the vehicle confirming it as a complete entity must be included. A FEE IS NOT APPLICABLE as the vehicle is being re-registered and is not applying for first registration. b. The application must have a V765 form signed, stamped and approved by the relevant vehicle owners/enthusiasts club (for their make/type), shown on the ‘List of Vehicle Owners Clubs’ (V765/1). The club may charge a fee to process the application. c. Evidence MUST be presented with the application to link the registration number to the vehicle. Acceptable forms of evidence include:- • The original old style logbook (RF60/VE60). • Archive/Library records displaying the registration number and the chassis number authorised by the archivist clearly defining where the material was taken from. • Other pre 1983 documentary evidence linking the chassis and the registration number to the vehicle. If successful, this registration number will be allocated on a non-transferable basis. How to tax the vehicle If your application is successful, on receipt of your V5C you should apply to tax at the Post Office® in the usual way. The vehicle must not be used or kept on the public road until you receive the tax disc. Age related registration numbers If the original number was transferred off or lost some time ago, or no documentary evidence can be provided to link the chassis and the registration number to the vehicle, it may be possible to issue your vehicle with an age related registration number. You will need to provide proof of the year of manufacture. The chassis/frame number can often be used to establish this. If the manufacturer is no longer in existence, you must apply to the relevant club for your type/make of vehicle for a dating certificate. If a non-suffix or prefix number is allocated, this will be on a non-transferable basis. Q registration numbers If no dating or other evidence is available to support an application, or if your vehicle has been restored or rebuilt using a majority of used parts from different vehicles, it is likely that your vehicle will be allocated a registration number from the ‘Q’ series. Rejected applications You can appeal against DVLA’s decision if there are circumstances that we did not take into account when you applied or you can provide new evidence. Any appeal should be made in a timely manner.     BEA D IBBBLS NmZa VETERAN AND VINTAGE MOTORING SEPTEMBER, 1966 "HORSELESS CARRIAGE" In 1893 the first gasoline pow ered motorcar in the U nited States cruised down the main streets of Springfield, Mass., at a speed of five mil es an hour! This car was mad e by two brothers , Charles E. and J. Frank Duryea. In 1896 Henry Ford drove his first car out. of the machine shop in Detroit. Later, his system of machine-made, interchangeable parts, and assembly line production, put. motorcars within the price range of the man-in-the-street. By the beginning of the 20th century, 8,000 motorcars were re gistered in the United States. These were powered by stea m, gasoline or electricity, and even then they did not look much like the original "Horseless Carriage." Some of the laws passed in the early days of the motorcar make us chuckle today. For instance, one community rul ed that if a horse refused to pass a motorcar the driver of the car mu st "take the machine apart •.. and conceal the parts in the grass". In som e places motorcars were banned entirely, and angry farmers guarded their livestock with shotguns against these "contraptions of the devil." It is easy to se e that early motorists were indeed brave pion eers, often running risks that would be hard to imagine today, for they also had to contend with the discomfort of rough roads, open driving seats and temperamental engines. THE BROOKLANDS DOUBLE TWELVE MOTORSPORT FESTIVAL 2018 COMBINED RESULTS Calculating 12/12 Aggregate Scores To be eligible for the competition, a car/driver combination must enter and score a result in two disciplines of the three available. Each of the three available competitions will receive awards as appropriate and as explained in the regulations for each event. Other than Class divisions in each competition, no weighting will be applied to take account of performance variations - this is because: a. Sprint times will be comparatively close (i.e. no competitor is likely to score less than 50% - a score that would represent a time exactly twice that of the fastest in class. b. Concours scores are 80% objective against a fixed marking guide with just 20% available as a subjective score subjective so, again, it is unlikely that any competitor will score less than 50% in total. c. Driving Test scores historically at this event have rarely been below 50% of the Best in Class. More than half score 75% or more. Therefore, in each competition, we can expect the scores for each competitor in each class in each discipline to be between 100% and 75%. Scores from each discipline are carried forward to a separate 12/12 scoreboard as a percentage score within their competition class whereby the best performance in each class in each event will score 100% and all other scores will be diminished on a simple percentage basis.

Aronson Age slips up to most of us, and the next thing you know, you’re a “classic.” It may be hard to believe, but the Range Rover has now delighted automotive enthusiasts since its unveiling 31 years ago. When Land Rover afficionados discuss “old Land Rovers,” they must now include Range Rovers, too. The Range Rover has been with us in much the same manner for three decades; even the “new” model in 1994 retained many of the engineering cues of the original. The original Range Rover, dubbed the “Classic,” took the Land Rover concept of “crossover vehicle” and made it more sophisticated. Whereas the Land Rover made itself into a station wagon by adding more seats to a utility vehicle, it First didn’t fool passengers one bit. The Range Rover Impressions combined luxury, performance, station wagon utility, and of course, off road capability, in a car that asked little compromise from its owners. Look at a photo of the Range Rover, the two- American 4 x 4’s included International Bruce McWilliams, reported he was white-knuckled door of its first decade.     WESSEX VEHICLE PRESERVATION CLUB FOUNDED 1971 www.wvpc.org.uk ‘WESSEX WAYS’ FEBRUARY 2020 VEHICLE OF THE MONTH The Austin Cambridge (sold as A40, A50, A55, and A60) is a motor car range produced by the Austin Motor Company, in several generations, from September 1954 through to 1971 as cars and to 1973 as light commercials. It replaced the A40 Somerset and was entirely new, with modern unibody construction. The range had two basic body styles with the A40, A50, and early A55 using a traditional rounded shape and later A55 Mark IIs and A60s using Pininfarina styling. The A40 number was re-used on a smaller car (the Austin A40 Farina) from 1958 to 1968, and the Cambridge name had previously been used to designate one of the available body styles on the pre-war 10 hp range. The Austin Cambridge was initially offered only with a four-passenger, four-door saloon body, although a few pre-production two-door models were also made. It had a modern body design with integrated wings and a full-width grille. Independent suspension was provided at the front by coil springs and wishbones while a live axle with anti-roll bar was retained at the rear.
