As the title of the book suggests, we ! going to give you a behind the scenes look at Emerson College from 2001 to 2002. As you know, it is a hands-on school where students can, and do, get involved in tons of everything! This book is better than any Hollywood studio tour because we are going to bring you, not quite virtually, on a wild and crazy tour. We can't hardly wait for you to meet the producers and stuntmen. We'll bring you right to all the different locations and show you directors' cuts. I won't even get into the cast of characters you'll find! But the biggest reason that this is better than any studio tour is because this book is yours! It is our hope that when you look at this book, you'll laugh and you'll cry and everything in between. We hope that for each ofyou there will be at least one picture that you connect to, whether it is a candid or a person. A yearbook is supposed to capture the year as it happened...well, we went behind the scenes and tried to capture the years as they happened. Now we invite you behind the scenes with us. And please, no touching. 2 Opening Candids 3 4 Candids Candids 5 I 6 Candids I Candids 7 8 Candids Candids 9 L On Z^ocation Our first stop on this wonderous tour is ''On Location"-otherwise known as student living. This is where half the fun and action takes place! You'll see an overview of our Emerson Residence Halls, some hot off-campus sights, the L.A. and Castle campuses , the Student Union, and the Cultural Center (yes some students do live at the latter two places). These are essential sets because if we crazy cast members didn't have a place to lay our heads or plan our wacky events - well then would anything ever get done?! Not likely! 11 100 Beacon Across campus, a ten story residence hall houses two hundreci twenty five students at 100 Beacon Street. 100 provides a great and intimate atmosphere. Compared to the crowds in front of the Little Building, 100 Beacon tends to be more chill and less chaotic. It also offers a variety of theme floors. Facing the Boston Public Garden lies a ten story hall which houses approximately one hundred fifty students. Residents share lounges, kitchen facilities, and common or semi-private baths. This hall includes a variety of themed housing options 6 Arlington 12 Student Living 132/4 Beacon This Back Bay brownstone is Emerson's smallest residence hall, housing approximately seventy-five students. Residents share common area baths, lounges, and kitchen facilities. Laundry facilities are located in the basement. The entire hall is designated as a quiet study area, and also has several single gender floors. (Above) 6 Arlington Resident Assistants: Kim Gordon, Tom O'Connor, Debra Yourman and Allyson Lohr Student Living 13 80 Boylston The Little Building, more commonly known as the LB, is the place that seven hundred fifty students call home each year. Students of all years live in the Little Building, and you can find just about anyone there. They might be in the C-store, the Athletics Office, Public Safety, Cabaret, the Bookstore, or the Dining Hall. The sure place to find someone that you know is right in front of the LB. (Above) R.A.’s Top: Ken Dodge 2nd Row; Karen Dickinson (RD), Linden Wolbert, Jon Swift, Dave Vottero, Joe Kay 3rd Row: Kate Kelly, Suna Akamese, Shayna Ross, Melanie Stachowiak, Kate Tillotson, Jared DiDomenico, Noah Gusdorff, Erin Flaherty, Zach Brisson, 4th Row: Ari Moore, Christine Kelly, Jesse Glucksman, Shefalli Gupta, Irene Papaefthemiou 5h Row: Will Cribby (Not Pictured: Josh Buland, Renee Robichaud, Kristy Rowe, and John Standard) 14 Student Living Off Campus More than half the student body lives off campus, braving the elements (rain, snow, the B-Line) to make it to class, on time being the objective, but getting there at all is always a plus. I've heard that once you've left the res halls (if you were ever there at all) there is no turning back. Mike here is appalled that people even want to live in the residence halls! It's not all that bad... Student Living 15 LA. The Los Angeles program is a great opportunity for students to experience the "real world" without actually being in it, yet. It's like slowly getting into the swimming pool. ..dip a toe, then your foot, and yc')u just slowly ease yourself in. At the L.A. campus students take classes and do an internship in their field of study It's a good 1 — —h chance to test out L.A. to find out if it's for you, 'cause trust me, it ain't for everyone (you East coast girls know what I am talking abc^ut)! Whichever coast you choose, it's an unreal time and great for the resume. {Above) Charisma and Allison doing the tourist thing at Universal Studios. Students spend the semester taking classes in the Netherlands and traveling all around Europe experiencing adventure after adventure. They get to live in an actual castle, moat and all! Does it get any better than that?! I wouldn't imagine so. I am surprised students actually return. If I went, I doubt that Td be able to bring myself to board the plane home. The Faculty play an enormous role in life at Emerson. They sure do have a producers job! They make sure everything is set for us when we arrive, share their knowledge, skills and insights, delegate responsibilities, and are there to help us troubleshoot when there is a problem. Sometimes it can be a thankless job, but we appreciate it, isn't that right folks?! C'mon, can 1 get a big "THANK YOU!" for our wonderful faculty! SSi.
