THE TYING HORSE PAGE 2 Overview of Fall events & programmes We were quite busy at the museum this Fall with annual events and some new ones to speak about. We began the season with our 35th Anniversary on September 21st, 2014 from 1 to 4 p.m. We had over 160 people in attendance as we reminisced and had complimentary cake and ice cream. Then on Tuesday October 7th, 2014 we opened our World War One display called The Christmas Truce of 1914 to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the beginning of the Great War. On Tuesday November 4th, 2014 we officially opened for the Christmas season with our Annual Christmas Penny Sale. The winners are in the column to the right. Thank you to all who participated, your generosity is very much appreciated at the Museum. Also on Tuesday November 4th, 2014 we opened the display Alight at Night: A Winter Village Tour in Minature, a private collection owned by Yvette Mahieu. With many bright and smiling faces, this display was received very well and enjoyed by all who saw it! Then on Friday November 14th, 2014 we celebrated the kick off of the holiday season with the Delhi BIA Annual Tree Lighting. We were visited by Santa and Mrs. Claus and many smiling and excited children with their families. Brenda Atkinson, musician, also joined us for some wonderful Christmas songs and cheer! We also held a draw for a Vintage Toy Gift Basket with Brad being the winner as seen here with his son. Congratulations! On Saturday November 15th, 2014 we embarked on our very first bus tour to Hamilton, Ontario, called, Cultural Seasonings Tour: A Shopping & Tasting Experience. We visited Starsky’s, Punjab Food Mart, Denninger’s, the Hamilton Farmer’s Market and Locke Street. It was a wonderful day with an enthusiastic group as we shopped and ate and reminisced over foods we remembered eating as children! What a special day! We also had a fantastic opportunity to participate in a Lunch & Learn session while visiting the Hamilton Farmer’s Market with Kate Park, dietician and nutritionist. We learned invaluable information and had a lot of fun! On Friday November 21st, 2014 we enjoyed the Traditional Christmas Dinner with delicious food from Chrissy’s Catering in Tillsonburg and an assortment of goodies from volunteers. The entertainment was fantastic as always with the Playford Players duet. The evening was well attended and enjoyed by all. On Saturday December 6th, 2014 we held our Holiday Ornament Creations for Kids workshop from 12 to 4 p.m. We were small in number but big on creativity and holiday spirit as we enjoyed making four ornament crafts, eating delicious cookies and drinking hot chocolate! We were also delighted to spend some time in with the Alight at Night display before the day was through! What a fun day we had celebrating for the holidays.
