Mechanical Technician (Airport Maintenance Support)

As a member of the facilities maintenance group you will showcase your technical talent.

Here’s what we are looking for:

• College diploma/certificate from a technical program such as Mechanical Technician, Instrumentation Technician, or other relevant trade certificate and/or equivalent combination of experience and education

• At least three years significant and recent experience working in a similar role requiring advanced technical skills and experience related to building / mechanical systems

• Able to meet physical demands of position, work outdoors and perform manual work

• Able to read, write and speak English

• Advanced knowledge of maintenance, repairs and troubleshooting of HVAC, fire protection, conveyor and other mechanical systems. Preference will be given to those specializing in mechanical or building systems, and certification is preferred. Training for airport specific equipment such as jet bridges and baggage conveyor system will be provided.

• Significant experience performing maintenance, installations, and modifications to mechanical systems, as needed or requested.

• Ability to work from written orders, drawings and schematics, and oral instructions.

• Proven ability to provide high quality building maintenance services including but not limited to plumbing, painting, drywall hanging, taping, mudding and finishing, flooring, molding and trim work, demolition as well as contract oversight management.

• Excellent computer skills including software/hardware set up and troubleshooting in support of new and existing equipment and facilities; airline common use counters; and/or meeting the future needs of the organization.

• A high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office software.

• Ability to perform miscellaneous jobs as required and assists other personnel.

• Excellent time management skills.

• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a positive relationship with customers, vendors, co-workers, management through effective oral and written communication. This includes communicating and following-up with customers, project managers and contractors regarding inspection and service findings.

• Flexibility to work shifts (days, weekends, nights and general holidays).

• Willingness to work and provide standby emergency repair coverage.

The successful candidate will be required to obtain an airport restricted area identification card, an airport vehicle operator permit and possess a valid Ontario driver’s license.
