Aktiv Foreword from the Mayor

Dear residents of Berg and Valued guests and readers of this brochure,

in addition to our homepage and to the ‘Gemeindkompass’, the 'BERG Aktiv' brochure is already the third information medium in our municipality that informs you about our life, customs, and current affairs. Its aim is to encourage people to take part in the life of our small and lovely village.

While the continuously published municipal newspaper informs you about current events in the village, the 'Gemeindekompass', which is available at the municipal authority, is published as a periodically updated guide to public municipal life.

The idea behind this 'BERG Aktiv' brochure originated within the context of a large- scale citizen participation project of the local Agenda 21 initiative with the title 'GEMEINDE 21'. It is meant to present club, leisure, and volunteering activities in the many organizations that are active in our village community.

Topics such as leisure activities, participation in social life, village culture, mutual understanding between people, enjoyment of nature, sports, and enjoyment of life always occupy our minds. In this regard, however, the high quality of life in our village community is crucial.

This high living standard, created by the joint efforts of the people who live here, is a very good starting point to maintain our wellbeing in the future.

Similarly to the past, I would like to invite each and every one of us to make a contribution towards maintaining the good living standard in Berg, which is one of our most precious treasures.

'BERG Aktiv' provides yet another foundation and source of information, allowing us to accept the invitation of the many voluntary organizations to actively cooperate and ensure a high quality of life for all of us.

I would like to express my appreciation and gratitude to all of those who have contributed to the publishing of this brochure and, consequently, towards the future of Berg.

I hope that every reader of this issue will become interested in contributing to making the future of Berg even better.

Your Mayor,

Georg Hartl

Aktiv Foreword from the Chairman of the Society for Village Renewal in Berg, a place with far-sight

Dear Reader! Dear Fellow Citizen!

The procedure „Gemeinde 21“ is a building stone of the Lower Village Renewal Program. „Gemeinde 21“ supports communities in finding new ways of cooperation between politics, administration and citizens. The process of development aims to make and plan a valuable, worthy standard of living in our community. This pamphlet is one of the results of the development process.

Many people in Berg are voluntarily active for the public welfare. Their motto „do it together“, with understanding for all neighbors leads to new opinions, strategies and solutions. Citizens take over responsibilities and become experts in their respective areas. They see purpose and orientation in their own lives. This pamphlet shows our appreciation and high esteem for each voluntary worker. It is also an invitation to each person to be active in Berg.

Franz Gumprecht

Foreword from the Chairman of the Steering Team (“Kernteam / Coreteam”)

Dear Fellow Citizens, Dear Guests,

The core team is – together with the Municipality of Berg – the motor of the Agenda 21 (Gemeinde 21 / Village 21) process. All core team members work voluntarily. Each member engages himself in projects, which correspond to his or her own interests and experience. The core team is further evidence for volunteer work in our community.

This pamphlet, „Berg Aktiv“, is one of numerous ideas that were created during the Future Conference held in November 2010 in Rust. It should motivate each inhabitant in Berg to actively support associations and organizations in his or her spare time. Most citizens are already active in the various associations. Still, your active participation is welcome and needed always and anywhere!

Working voluntarily leads to friendly relationships with other inhabitants. Voluntary work can also be fun! Just try it!

Werner Hartl
