Weekly Information Bulletin February 29, 2016 2016 Junior Achievement of RI - 32nd Achieve-A- Bowl Attention all serious and casual bowlers and friends of Junior Achievement. The 32nd an- nual bowling event supporting JARI will take place on two separate weekends at Lang’s Bowlarama of Cranston RI on March 12,13 & 19,20. Junior Achievement is a non-profit organization whose mission is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. JA provides in- school and after-school programs for students K-12. All bowlers participate as part of a 5 person team. Bowlers are asked to raise flat donations, no per pin hassle. Registration fee is $7 per person. All bowlers receive an official event t-shirt, 2 hours of bowling, and shoe rental. Bowlers should set a goal of raising $100 in donations. Specifically, we have restricted the need for a company to obtain the JCP (Joint Certification Program) number to only those who will be require access to technical data (FOUO, NNPI, & ITAR), in other words working on or having prolonged exposure to our product. For visits involving Foreign Nationals or Foreign Owned Companies, contact Nicole Cavanagh at 2-2381 for additional requirements per SP 6-10. If you work with Vendors/Visitors, please print out and supply the amended form to your contacts. The new forms can be found at the QP Security website and in the Supplier page at www.gdeb.com. Forms currently accepted and in our system will remain valid until their one year expiration date. I want to make sure that you are informed about Providence School’s decision-making process and procedures that we follow in the event of inclement weather. HOW IS THE DECISION MADE TO CLOSE SCHOOL, DELAY OPENING OR RELEASE EARLY? As superintendent of schools, I am responsible for making these decisions, with recommendations from my operations, transportation and facilities staffs. We make these decisions based on a careful analysis of relevant factors, such as: information on road conditions from transportation staff and from the police; amount of snow and ice accumulated, or flooding; temperature and wind factor; weather predictions; parking lot conditions; whether our buildings have electricity and heat; and what other school districts are doing. HOW ARE PARENTS AND FAMILIES NOTIFIED? We will continue to utilize our telephone notification system to let parents know about school closings, delays or early releases.     NARRAGANSETT SCHOOL SYSTEM SCHOOL CLOSING AND EMERGENCY PROCEDURES 2017-18 SCHOOL YEAR 1 This booklet outlines the procedures that the Narragansett School System will use when the normal course of schools may be disrupted due to a weather emergency, building or system problem, or any other event which may cause a change in the usual schedule of school openings and closings or routine work schedule. DEFINITIONS: NO SCHOOL. Day when schools will not operate. There will be no transportation provided to public or private schools, inside or outside Narragansett, on that day. DELAYED OPENINGS. School will open later than usual. During “Delayed Openings,” transportation will be provided to all students attending schools in district and out-of-district. Dismissal times will be regular dismissal times on those days. Opening time with 1 (one) hour delay will be: NHS - 8:30 AM; NPS - 9:05 AM; NES – 10:00 AM. EARLY DISMISSAL. When the school day has already started and it is necessary to close the schools earlier than the normal time. NON-SCHOOL DAYS. When school is not scheduled to be in session, such as seasonal school vacations, summer, etc., but are workdays for year-round employees. EMERGENCY CLOSING OF SCHOOL INFORMATION. School Closing Announcements will begin at approximately 6:00 AM on the following TV stations: Channel 6 (WLNE-TV); Channel 12 (WPRI); Channel 64 (WNAC-FOX); Channel 10 (WJAR-TV); and Channel 36 (RI PBS). RI Public Broadcasting provides information to numerous radio stations, including: WHJJ-AM (920), WRNI-AM (1290), WSKO-AM (790) and WWBB-FM (B101/101.5), WHJY-FM (94.1), WSNE-FM (Coast 93.3), WPRO-FM (92.3), JAZZ-FM (102.7) School Messenger alerts will be sent out via text messaging.

    6114.6(a) Instruction Inclement Weather The following procedures will be followed in connection with the holding of school sessions on stormy days. All decisions will be made by the office of the Superintendent of Schools. 1. Cancellation of School Sessions a. Notification of the cancellation of school sessions for a particular day will be carried over the local radio stations before 7:00 a.m. b. Sirens in the various fire stations will be sounded at 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. to signify no school. The signal will be 22. c. When school sessions are canceled in the morning, there will be no afternoon sessions. 2. Late Opening of School Sessions There are occasions when roads are hazardous for travel in the early morning hours but become easily passable later in the day. On such occasions, school sessions will begin at a later hour. a. Notification of the late opening of schools will be given to the radio stations prior to 7:00 a.m. The sirens on the firehouses will not be sounded. b. Subsequent announcements will follow from the radio stations. School sessions may still be canceled with this notification being given before 8:30 a.m. Sirens on the fire stations will be sounded at 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. c. When schools open at a later hour all transportation schedules will be advanced one and one-half hours. School sessions will be as follows: High School 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Middle School 9:40 a.m.

Everything is Possible with God. The church and class- rooms were decorated with kites, balloons and planes to welcome the 97 children and youth helpers to this year’s Vacation Bible School. That’s an increase in attendance of 37% from last year! The children, youth and adults spent the week immersed in Bible stories, dancing and sing- ing, crafts and Chatter Theatre. On Thursday evening, the VBS barbeque was held outside Church Meetings with about 200 in attendance. Besides the great food, there were games for the children, a August 1 bouncy house and even an air show! 5:00 PM Pot Luck Dinner We are most grateful to all the volunteers who helped in so many ways and to all those 6:45 PM Prayer Gathering who donated items or made financial contributions.
