OPIS TEMATSKEGA PODRO ČJA ŠAH a. V 19. stoletju pride do velikega kvantitativnega in kvalitativnega skoka v razvoju klasi čnega, dopisnega in problemskega šaha. Šah vstopa v predšolski, osnovnošolski in srednješolski vzgojno-izobraževalni sistem. Šah igrajo milijoni ljudi po vsem svetu. Razvoj umetne inteligence na modelu šahovske igre v znanosti, razvoj ra čunalniškega šaha, informacijsko-komunikacijske tehnologije in ra čunalniške šahovske izobraževalne tehnologije, je na prelomu novega tiso čletja prinesel razvijanje novih oblik šahovske kulture, nove šahovske športne zvrsti in novo dodano vrednost v šahovsko kulturo. Kljub velikim vložkom znanosti v ra čunalniško preu čitev šaha ostaja igra še vedno neiz črpna in bolj živa kot kadarkoli prej. b. OBLIKE ŠAHOVSKE KULTURE, ŠAHOVSKE ZVRSTI IN TEKMOVALNE DISCIPLINE Osnovne oblike šahovske kulture, temeljne šahovske zvrsti, so klasi čni oziroma standardni šah , dopisni šah in problemski šah . Standardni in dopisni šah sta predstavnika igralnega šaha.

PREFACE A critical-minded author always questions his own writing and tries to predict whether it will be illuminating and useful for the readers. What makes this book special? First of all, I have always had an inquisitive mind and an insatiable desire for accumulating, generating and sharing knowledge. Th is work is a prod- uct of having carefully read a few hundred remarkable chess books and a few thousand worthy non-chess volumes. However, it is by no means a mere compilation of ideas, facts and recommendations. Most of the eye- opening tips in this manuscript come from my refl ections on discussions with some of the world’s best chess players and coaches. Th is is why the book is titled Yearbook of Chess Wisdom: it is composed of 366 self-suffi - cient columns, each of which is dedicated to a certain topic.

He agreed to do so when urged by Viktor Chepizhnoi, the chess director of the “Physical Culture and Sport” publishing house. Chepizhnoi’s arguments were convincing, but the Champion already understood perfectly well that the moment had come: he had already collected and classified practically all the games he had ever played (they came to around two thousand). For roughly a quarter of them, annotations had been written, albeit in a compressed (“Informator”-style) arrangement. For this book Petrosian wanted to annotate roughly 30-40 more games; together with those published earlier, these would constitute the nucleus of the work.
