All ‘Kids’ aged under 13 attend General English in the afternoons and the activity programme in the mornings. All ‘Teens’, aged 13+ attend General English lessons in the morning and then follow their chosen option (Vacation Course, Academic English, Intensive English, Sports Coaching or Work experience) in the afternoon. All courses run throughout the day and you should not return to your houses until the end of the day General English Programme (for all Teens) Lessons 09:00 - 10:40 Break 10:40 - 11:00 Lessons 11:00 - 12:40 Your afternoon programme commences at 13:45 General English Programme (for all Kids) Lessons 13:30 - 15:10 Break 15:10 - 15:30 Lessons 15:30 - 17:15 Daily Meal Times: Breakfast 07:30 – 09:00 Lunch 12:15 – 14:00 Dinner 17:45 – 19:45 Please check your House notice board for the exact meal times for your group. From our many years of experience, we recommend that you bring the following items with you (as required): Luggage • Lockable suitcase which is not too big for you to push/carry • Small backpack/rucksack suitable for carrying a packed lunch, waterproof jacket and other small items • Money belt Clothes (it is useful to put names on your clothing) • Lightweight waterproof jacket • Sports clothes and sports shoes • Swimwear/goggles/cap • Comfortable walking shoes/trainers • Warm jumper/sweatshirt and jeans (in case the weather gets cold!) • Smart casual clothes Personal Items • Pen and notebook (learning materials are provided by the College) • Swimming towel (bath towel is provided by the College) • Warm pyjamas/nightdress • Hairdryer (if required) • Adapter for 240 volt – 3 pin plug (if required) • Camera • Toilet bag • Tennis racket (if required) • Pocket money: we recommend GBP 100 per week (+ GBP 30 damage/behaviour deposit) 6 Arrival Information & Breakage Deposit Arrivals You were sent a Travel Consent Form with your Booking Confirmation Pack. Please ensure that you bring this with you when you travel. It contains contact details for the centre along with important contact numbers in case of emergency. You will be met at the Arrivals Area of the airport by one of our drivers or a school representative who will be holding a sign with your name and Clifton College written clearly on it. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE ARRIVALS AREA OF THE AIRPORT UNTIL YOU HAVE MET YOUR DRIVER / REP. If you are travelling as an ‘Individual’, the name of your driver and a contact number will be sent to you a week before your course starts. If you have not located your driver after 15 minutes, please contact the number shown on your Travel Consent Form. If for any reason you are unable to reach the Transport Office, or if you are travelling as a group, please contact either: Clifton College Summer School: +44 (0) 117 315 7670 or +44 (0) 781 556 4561 or Tony Evans: +44 (0) 796 311 2533. All of these numbers are listed in your Travel Consent Form. ID and Breakage Deposit You will be given a student access card. The student access card should be worn at all times, especially at meal times, because without it you won’t be allowed into the dining-room. The student access card is for entry into your accommodation, classrooms, sports facilities etc and should also be worn at all times (a card carrier will be provided). The student access card will cost £5 to replace so please look after it and keep it safe. A £30 or €30 Damage and Behaviour deposit is required from every student and this will be collected by your House Leader when you arrive so please make sure you bring the correct amount with you. This money will be kept in the College safe and will be returned to you on departure day after an inspection of your accommodation provided there has been no malicious damage, and no misbehaviour during your time here. When you arrive at the College, you will be taken directly to your accommodation and introduced to your House/Activity Leaders. These are the members of staff who will be looking after you in your boarding house. They will help you to get settled in. Depending on the time that you arrive, there will be a house meeting and a campus orientation before or after dinner. For groups arriving very late, the meeting and orientation will be done the next morning. 7 Boarding House Rules These are rules that have been set out by Clifton College to ensure that your stay is both safe and enjoyable • Smoking – there is no smoking allowed on the College grounds at all. • Sanitary towels must be placed in the appropriate bins in the toilets & bathrooms. • Kitchens must only be used for bread/toast and drinks; not for full meal cooking! Kitchens MUST be tidied and all plates etc washed each night, otherwise the Kitchens will be locked. • Each bedroom/house hall/kitchen will be checked before arrival and departure. If there is any damage caused by you, which has not been reported, we have the right to retain your deposit. • If something in the house gets damaged, then please let us know, we will understand if it was an accident. • Laundry – please do not overfill your laundry bag, and make sure that your bag is easily identifiable • Beds should be made, rooms tidied and windows opened each morning • Beds must be stripped and linen put in the designated area on bed change days and departure days, otherwise your bed linen will not be changed! • Please do not move any mattresses on to the floor, this is a Fire Hazard! • “Lights Off” (curfew) is at 22:30. The security alarm in each house sets automatically at 22:30 each evening. • Look after the House Hall, it is your common room, keep it tidy and please be careful with the equipment. Treat the house in the same way that you would treat your own house. The computers in the Boarding House are not to be used. • No ball games inside the house • No girls in boys rooms and vice versa • Incidents of alcohol, drugs or sexual activity will result in immediate expulsion Any breaking of the rules will be taken seriously and in extreme cases we reserve the right to send those involved back home at their own expense. 8 Fire Evacuation Procedure There are notices in the classrooms and other areas that outline the action to take in the event of a fire and where to obtain First Aid. Please read them carefully and make sure that you understand what to do.
