Se proponen Hemerobius falciger (Tjeder, 1963) nov. comb. y Hemerobius anomalus (Monserrat, 1992) nov. comb. como nuevas combinaciones y el nombre de Nusalala ilusionata nom. nov. para Nusalala falcata Kimmins, 1940 nec Nusalala falcata (Banks, 1910). Se apoya la validez de Micromus canariensis frente a M. sjostedti y Hemerobius con- vexus n. sp. se describe como una nueva especie braquíptera de Kenia. September 1997 Specimens representing 19 orders and 169 arthropod families (mostly insects) were collected from greenleaf manzanita brushfields in northeastern California and identified to species whenever possible. More than500 taxa below the family level wereinventoried, and each listing includes relative frequency of encounter, life stages collected, and dominant role in the greenleaf manzanita community. Specific host relationships are included for some predators and parasitoids. Herbivores, predators, and parasitoids comprised the majority (80 percent) of identified insects and related taxa. Checklist of the Neuroptera (Lacewings, Mantidflies, Antlions and Relatives) of British Columbia by Geoff Scudder and Rob Cannings (2008) The order Neuroptera is represented in British Columbia by eight families, 24 genera and 72 known species. The first BC list was published by Spencer (1942) when the three neuropteroid orders found in the province (Megaloptera, Raphidioptera and Neuroptera) were considered one order (Neuroptera). Garland and Kevan (2007) document the Chrysopidae, Klimaszewski and Kevan (1985, 1987, 1988, 1992) list the Hemerobiidae, Meinander (1972, 1974) list the Coniopterygidae and Cannings and Cannings (2006) document the Mantispidae. The classification used here is based on that of Oswald and Penny (1991). Two species of Coniopterygidae marked (A) are alien introductions. E-mail: [email protected] Abstract A fossil larva of Hemerobiidae (Neuroptera) is recorded for the first time from Baltic amber. The subfamilial and generic affinities of this larva are discussed. It is assumed that it may belong to Prolachlanius resinatus, the most common hemer- obiid species from the Eocene Baltic amber forest. An updated list of extant species of Hemerobiidae with described larvae is provided. Key words: Insecta, Neuroptera, Hemerobiidae, Baltic amber, Eocene, larva Introduction The Hemerobiidae is the most widely distributed family of Neuroptera. Hemerobiid species occur from the subpo- lar tundra to tropical regions, but with approximately 550 species they are not particularly speciose (Oswald 2007). Their fossil record extends to the Late Jurassic (Makarkin et al. 2003); however, records of fossils older than the Eocene are rare. The larvae of Hemerobiidae feed on small arthropods (e.g., aphids, mites) and are often used for pest control. -

SCUDDER1 and ROBERT A. CANNINGS2 ABSTRACT The Neuropterid orders in British Columbia consist of the Megaloptera, Neuroptera and Raphidioptera. Twelve families containing 89 species are represented. The distribution of these species is documented with reference to the 9 terrestrial ecoprovinces in British Columbia. Collection localities are given for species represented by 5 or fewer sites. Four species, 2 of Coniopterygidae and 2 of Hemerobiidae, are considered alien intro- ductions. INTRODUCTION The first list of British Columbia (BC) order, the Neuroptera. LACEWINGS(INSECTA:NEUROPTERA) OFTHECOLUMBIARIVERBASIN PREPAREDBY: DR.JAMESB.JOHNSON 1995 INTERIORCOLUMBIABASIN ECOSYSTEMMANAGEMENTPR~JECT CONTRACT#43-OEOO-4-9222 Lacewings (Insecta: Neuroptera) of the Columbia River Basin Taxonomy’ As defined for most of this century, the Order Neuroptera included three suborders: Megaloptera Raphidioptera (= Raphidioidea) and Planipennia. Within the last few years each of the suborders has been given ordinal rank due to a reconsideration of insect classification based on cladistic or phylogenetic analyses. This has given rise to the Orders Megaloptera, Raphidioptera and Neuroptera sem strict0 (s.s., = in the narrow sense), as opposed to the Neuroptera senrrr Iato (s.l., = in the broad sense) as defined above. In this more recent classification Neuroptera S.S. = Planipennia, and the three currently recognized orders are grouped as the Neuropterida (Table 1). The Neuropterida include approximately 2 1 families and 4500 species in the world (Aspock, et al. 1980). Of these, 15 families and about 370 species occur in America north of Mexico (Penny et al., in prep.). The fauna of the Columbia River Basin is currently known to include 13 f&es and approximately 33 genera and 92 species (Table 2). These numbers are 1ikeIy to change because the regional fauna is not extensively studied. There are approximately 20 species of Neuroptera that occur in adjacent regions that are likely to occur in the Columbia River Basin. Some species almost certainly remain to be discovered, like the recently described Chrysopiella brevisetosa (Adams and Garland 198 1) and the unnamed Lomamyia sp. These species were recognized on traditional anatomical bases. Newer techniques may reveal additional taxa e.g. -

PERIOTO4 Abstract: This study aimed to identify the Hemerobiidae (Neuroptera) associated to Brazilian savannah and gallery forest, in Minas Gerais State, Brazil. The sampling was carried every two weeks at Brazilian savannah (Cerrado) in Divinópolis and at gallery forest in Pedra do Indaiá, both in Minas Gerais State, Brazil. Collecting was carried out between November 2003 and October 2004, with Malaise traps. A total of 181 specimens of five species of Hemerobiidae were collected. The species Nusalala tessellata, Megalomus impudicus, Hemerobius bolivari and Notiobiella sp. were collected in the two sites; the fifth speciesSympherobius sp. was found only in Pedra do Indaiá. The species of diversity (index of Shannon-Wiener) and the equitability (J) of Hemerobiidae were similar in the areas of Brazilian savannah and gallery forest (H’ = 0.47 - 0.49, respectively, and J = 0.78 - 0.69, respectively), and the differences observed between the two locations were not significant. Resumen: Este estudio tuvo como objetivo caracterizar los Hemerobiidae (Neuroptera) asociados al “Cerrado” sensu stricto y bosque de galería, en el estado de Minas Gerais, Brasil. El muestro de hemeróbidos se realizó quincenalmente con auxilio de trampas Malaise entre noviembre de 2003 y octubre de 2004. En las dos áreas de estudio se capturaron 181 ejemplares de hemeróbidos de cinco especies.
