Welcome one and all to Moon Park for this afternoon's game. Today we entertain high flying Christchurch in the Wessex League Cup competition. They are one league above us in the Wessex Premier League and we congratulate them on their win against Gloucester in the FA Vase which they won 6-5 on penalties. They were the under dogs on that occasion and came through , we will be hoping we can do the same thing this afternoon. I am sure it will be a challenging game; our new Manager Jamie Cotton is eager and ready to make his mark. We have new staff running our refreshments cafe,. We send a warm welcome to Thomas and Catherine and are grateful for their services .Thomas Barrett was Chairman at Durrington for many years and is now in charge of our under 23's ,is our Club Secretary and now has taken on responsibilities for running match day refreshments. Today the visitors are a very talented Christchurch side who are expertly managed by Ollie Cherrett. Congratulations to him and his side for their recent FA Cup victory and we wish them well in the next round. This is my first time writing this column since I took over the reigns as manager from Ian Saunders a fortnight ago. It's an honour to be manager of this club and I hope to help bring the success it deserves Since taking over we've earned a derby day draw at Downton and picked up a good 3 points away at Totton and Eling. He has previously worked with the gaffer at other clubs and it was a no brainer for the two men to be reunited. Jam is an excellent acquisition for the Harlequins. Danny Proctor (Coach) - Danny, a serving officer in the British Army, had a long and distinguished military footballing career, playing for the British Army and the Combined Service football teams. This is Danny's first venture into coaching a civilian club, but he is already hugely respected. Being fit as a fiddle, Danny is an invaluable member of the coaching team. Jimmy Richardson (Goalkeeper Coach) - Jimmy is another serving Warrant Officer within the British Army. He also assists the gaffer with their other representative team, the Royal Artillery FC. Jimmy is a real players favourite and keeps the Harlequins goalkeepers in top condition. A thankless task at times, but Jimmy is another invaluable member of the coaching team. Mark Lewis (Sports Therapist) - Lewey is a former Royal Artillery soldier who has served with the gaffer for 20+ years. His expertise on the treatment table have ensured that players with slight 'niggles' have returned to playing sooner than normally expected. He is qualified in a number of 'therapy' practices and has become a trusted and valuable member of the staff. Playing Staff Patrick Creese (Goalkeeper) – Paddy is an excellent young shot stopper. Born and bred locally, Paddy has spent his early years at Amesbury Town, before making the switch to the Harlequins in 2019. Scott Hassell (Defender) – Hass has had a good career including a long stint playing Ryman League football before moving to the local area. He is a mobile centre half who has a good knack of scoring important goals. George Plank (Defender) – George is a former Swindon Town youth product and is also a very keen futsal player. Planky has filled in at either full back position who enjoys not only defending but also joining in further up the pitch. Charlie Rayfield (Defender) – Charlie is another product of the Salisbury FC conveyor belt, he has played a good number of Southern Premier league fixtures. The Rayman is an excellent defender who can also get forward and deliver crosses of good quality. Another 20 year old who has a huge future in front of him. Jack Smith (Defender) – Jack is a no nonense defender who thrives on doing his job!! Jack has huge experience for one so young and we feel he is a real coup for the Harlequins. PENPICS McAulie Stubbs (Defender) – Stubbsy was a last minute signing, before the 'season that never was' became null and void. In 90 minutes he proved to be exactly the sort of player that the Harlequins supporters will enjoy watching. Committed and wholehearted he also has good vision, whilst maintaining his defensive work firt and foremost. Jack Vallis (Defender) – Jack is a new addition to the Bemmy back line. A commanding centre half, Jack is vastly experienced with a number of Southern League appearances under his belt. A born leader, Jack will add his attributes to the squad for the coming campaign. Sean Wain (Defender) – Sean is Pompey born and bred. His promising youth career was cut short with an horrific leg break, but he showed his bouncebackability by playing in championship winning teams in both Wessex 1 and Wessex Premier before having a comfortable time in the Southern League. George Bennett (Defender/Midfielder) – George is a very elegant and comfortable footballer, who can play in a number of positions.
