This year’s Outlook for the Intercity Bus Industry report draws attention to some of the industry’s changing fundamentals while also looking at notable developments anticipated this year and beyond. Our analysis evaluates the industry in six areas: i) The status of bus travel booking through January 2021; ii) Notable marketing and service developments of 2020; iii) The decline of the national bus network sold on greyhound.com that is relied upon by travelers on thousands of routes across the U.S. -

There and Back Again: Mobilising Tourist Imaginaries at the Tower of London Matthew Hughes Ansell 2014 Dissertation submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of MA in Cultural Heritage Studies of University College London in 2017 UCL INSTITUTE OF ARCHAEOLOGY ‘Those responsible for the brochure had darkly intuited how easily their readers might be turned into prey by photographs whose power insulted the intelligence and contravened any notions of free will: over-exposed photographs of palm trees, clear skies, and white beaches. Readers who would have been capable of skepticism and prudence in other areas of their lives reverted in contact with these elements to a primordial innocence and optimism. The longing provoked by the brochure was an example, at once touching and bathetic, of how projects (and even whole lies) might be influenced by the simplest and most unexamined images of happiness; of how a lengthy and ruinously expensive journey might be set into motion by nothing more than the sight of a photograph of a palm tree gently inclining in a tropical breeze’ (de Botton 2002, 9). 2 Abstract Tourist sites are amalgams of competing and complimentary narratives that dialectically circulate and imbue places with meaning. Widely held tourism narratives, known as tourist imaginaries, are manifestations of ‘shared mental life’ (Leite 2014, 268) by tourists, would-be tourists, and not-yet tourists prior to, during, and after the tourism experience. This dissertation investigates those specific pre-tour understandings that inform tourists’ expectations and understandings of place prior to visiting. Looking specifically at the Tower of London, I employ content and discourse analysis alongside ethnographic field methods to identify the predominant tourist imaginaries of the Tower of London, trace their circulation and reproduction, and ultimately discuss their impact on visitor experience at the Tower. -

Reinohl Collection album list The Reinohl Collection consists of 180 albums compiled by two brothers, Herbert and Albert Reinohl. The brothers were born in the late nineteenth century and began collecting material about transport (buses in particular) from childhood, continuing through to the 1950s. The collection is principally made up of tickets, but it also includes illustrations, press cuttings, journal articles and other ephemera from the UK and around the world. The list below gives brief details of what is covered by each album. If you would like to enquire about specific contents in the albums please contact us. The collection forms part of the Library collection at London Transport Museum (LTM) and is stored at the Museum Depot at Acton. Backgrounder on Application 256-17 (Greyhound Canada Transportation ULC) Updated April 25, 2018 On February 20, 2018, the PT Board approved Greyhound’s application to • eliminate o service on six routes in the North Central region of B.C., o three routes in southwestern B.C., o three route segments: the Fraser Canyon area, Hope to Kaledan Junction (via highways 3 & 3A) and along highway 97 from Monte Lake to Vernon o some route points on remaining routes • set a minimum service requirement floor of four trips weekly (2 times in each direction) on the 10 remaining routes. Appendix 1 below provides more details on PT Board decisions on routes or route points. Greyhound must operate in the North Central Region and on the three route segments until May 31, 2018. This allows Greyhound passengers to travel safely over the harsh winter months. Greyhound may reduce service on these routes in the interim. People who want to start a new bus service will have time to apply. The decision sets a floor of four trips weekly on the 10 routes that Greyhound continues to serve. Greyhound can adjust service up or down to the floor to meet passenger demand. Greyhound may also drop some stops on these routes. Greyhound must post notice on its website and in depots before it makes any schedule changes. The Board heard from many people and communities about the application. They said that service reductions increase public safety concerns, especially in areas where transportation options are limited and winters are harsh. They also said that Greyhound provides a necessary service to some people.
