By Deadra Albrecht-Frasch avid Sabella is an accomplished Dperformer, vocalist, author, educa- tor, and father. David has appeared both on and off Broadway-perhaps most notably as “Mary Sunshine” in the 1996 revival of “CHI- CAGO, the Musical” alongside Bebe Neuwirth, the late Ann Reinking, and Joel Grey. He has won several awards including but not limited to, Outstanding Performer in a Lead Role for his work in “The Phillie Trilogy”, and winner of the 1995 Luciano Pavarotti International Voice Competition. We’ll dive more in depth into David’s astonishing career later, but first let’s learn a little about David’s earlier years. David was born in Florida (while his fam- ily was vacationing from New York) but grew up in Westchester County, New York, and has one living brother, Ernie Sabella. David recalls a few stages of "coming out." His parents first tried to have a conversation with him, ques- tioning his sexuality as a young teenager, but David was not ready at that time. Later, in his first semester of college, he wrote his Dad a letter coming out as gay. While in college he Photo shoot of the Sabella family taken while on vacation on a summer cruise in 2017.
