RESPONSIVE READING Psalm 67 M: May God be gracious to us and bless us C: and make his face shine upon us; M: may your ways be known on earth, C: your salvation among all nations. 4 M: May the nations be glad and sing for joy, C: for you rule the peoples justly and guide the nations of the earth. M: Then the land will yield its harvest, C: and God, our God, will bless us. M: God will bless us, C: and all the ends of the earth will fear him. ALL: Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen. CONFESSION OF SINS M: We have come into the presence of God, who created us to love and serve him as his dear children. But we have disobeyed him and deserve only his wrath and punishment. Therefore, let us confess our sins to him and plead for his mercy. C: Merciful Father in heaven, I am altogether sinful from birth. In countless ways I have sinned against you and do not deserve to be called your child. But trusting in Jesus, my Savior, I pray: Have mercy on me according to your unfailing love. Cleanse me from my sin, and take away my guilt. M: God, our heavenly Father, has forgiven all your sins. By the perfect life and innocent death of our Lord Jesus Christ, he has removed your guilt forever. You are his own dear child. May God give you strength to live according to his will. C: Amen. BE SEATED 5 SONG OF PRAISE At the Cross – Love Ran Red (Chris Tomlin) There's a place where mercy reigns and never dies. There's a place where streams of grace flow deep and wide. Where all the love I've ever found comes like a flood, comes flowing down. CHORUS At the cross, at the cross, I surrender my life. I'm in awe of You, I'm in awe of You. Where Your love ran red, and my sin washed white. I owe all to You, I owe all to You, Jesus There's a place where sin and shame are powerless. Where my heart has peace with God and forgiveness. Where all the love I've ever found comes like a flood, comes flowing down. CHORUS At the cross, at the cross, I surrender my life. I'm in awe of You, I'm in awe of You Where Your love ran red, and my sin washed white. I owe all to You, I owe all to You BRIDGE Here my hope is found. Here on holy ground, 6 here I bow down, here I bow down. Here, arms open wide, here You saved my life. Here I bow down, here I bow At the cross, at the cross, I surrender my life. I'm in awe of You, I'm in awe of You Where Your love ran red, and my sin washed white. I owe all to You At the cross, at the cross, I surrender my life. I'm in awe of You, I'm in awe of You. Where Your love ran red, and my sin washed white. I owe all to You, I owe all to You. I owe all to You, I owe all to You. Father in heaven, at the baptism of Jesus in the River Jordan you proclaimed him your beloved Son and anointed him with the Holy Spirit. Keep us who are baptized into Christ faithful in our calling as your children and make us heirs with him of everlasting life; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. C: Amen. 7 THE WORD FIRST LESSON Isaiah 6:1-8 l NIV In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. 3 And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” 4 At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke. 5 “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty.” 6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.” 8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” SECOND LESSON Romans 10:12-17 l NIV For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” 14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” 16 But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed 8 our message?” 17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. STAND GOSPEL Luke 5:1-11 l NIV One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret, the people were crowding around him and listening to the word of God.
