PRESENTS The Rink Pink V Oct 17-19, 2014 OWHA Sanction #1415002 Pink the Rink V • October 17-19, 2014 | i ii | Etobicoke Dolphins Girls Hockey League October 17, 2014 On behalf of the tournament committee, I would like to welcome all of the hockey players and their families to Pink the Rink V. I would like to personally acknowledge the many teams that have travelled long distances to participate … including teams from the United States, Northern Ontario and Eastern Ontario! Your support is greatly appreciated. Th e Etobicoke Dolphins are thrilled to be hosting this event. In only our 5th year, the tournament is welcoming 218 teams and more than 3500 players, coaches, trainers, and managers. We are very proud of our organization and our community and we hope everyone enjoys their time here - both in and out of the arenas. Our tournament objectives are two fold: • To increase awareness and support for breast cancer. Th is tournament will help to support individuals directly impacted by breast cancer through the Canadian Breast Cancer Support Fund. • To brighten the prospects for female minor hockey by raising the profi le of the sport in Canada’s largest city … inviting teams from everywhere to come to Toronto and compete for the love of the sport. Each year we get more excited about hosting this event (and hopefully a little better at it) and we try our best to make it a memorable weekend for everyone involved. Many individuals have worked very hard to bring this event to life – especially members of our tournament committee – who have dedicated countless hours to make this weekend possible. In addition, I would like to thank our executive members and all of our volunteers, partners, sponsors, and supporters, particularly the City of Toronto, the Mastercard Centre for Hockey Excellence, Canlan Ice Sports, the Toronto Furies, Bauer Hockey and Duke’s Source for Sports. We are grateful to Debbie Bland, Vanessa Stratton, Alex Hercules and Carlo D’Ambrogio for taking on the very complex task of recruiting and scheduling offi cials for the tournament. And thank you to all of the on and off -ice offi cials. Good luck to all participants and thank you for coming to Etobicoke! If there is any way that we can make your experience here better please let us know. Ned Italiano Tournament Director Pink the Rink V EDGHL Pink the Rink V • October 17-19, 2014 | 1 Welcome to our fabulous Pink the Rink V Girls Hockey Tournament! We are so very pleased to have all of you here helping us support this ever growing issue with so many families today. As a Breast Cancer survivor I can honestly say how wonderful it is to see such amazing support from our hockey communities. They say it’s a big world, but really it’s not, and unfortunately this disease affects all of us in some way, shape or form. This year we lost an outstanding Dolphin mom and we are honouring her here this weekend. Wendy’s continued support to all the players, coaches and executive will be greatly missed and always remembered. Wendy thoroughly enjoyed watching her daughters play as well as the entire team. She watched all of them grow to be confi dent, thoughtful and energetic young ladies, and they will truly miss her. Your support this weekend will help the Canadian Breast Cancer Support Fund provide assistance to those currently undergoing treatment for Breast Cancer. Through your continued support, the Etobicoke Dolphins have been able to raise more than $25,000 for the CBCSF to date. We look forward to another successful tournament, and we hope you have as much fun playing here as we did planning it. See you at the rink, Debbie Debbie Boncheff Tournament Registrar Breast Cancer Team Pink the Rink V There are two sides to every story about breast cancer. For most, the story is about pink ribbons and working towards a future where it doesn’t exist. But that’s just one side of the story and it’s not ours. Ours is a story of breast cancer patients struggling to pay for food and shelter, parking and medication. Ours is the all too common story of struggling, not to survive, but to afford to survive. And it’s a story we’re here to change. We provide breast cancer patients with the short term financial support they need to focus, simply and solely on fighting their disease. Join us, and support women in their greatest time of need. A heartfelt thank you to the Etobicoke Dolphins Girls Hockey league for supporting us again this year and to all of the teams for their support and participation in another amazing hockey tournament for young women. On behalf of the community of women we serve, we thank you for you generous support. www.cbcsf.ca @cbcsf_ca #SupportTheGirls Charity Registration #83661 2804 RR0001 2 | Etobicoke Dolphins Girls Hockey League Pink the Rink V • October 17-19, 2014 | 3 Jack’s invites the Etobicoke Dolphins to stop by for a bite!
