We are once again honoured to be hosting this prestigious event which includes 56 teams in 6 divisions, Atom AA, Atom A, Atom BB, Bantam AA, Bantam A, and Bantam BB. We look forward to witnessing some outstanding performances from all the players and teams from across Ontario and the United States. Many of you have travelled from far to join us this weekend, and the committee is dedicated to making this event a tremendous experience with lots of hockey excitement in the spirit of good competition and fair play for all. This information package includes, schedules, places to eat, shop and visit. We hope that during your stay, you will enjoy our town and surrounding areas. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our generous sponsors and numerous volunteers who help make this event a great success. Sincerely, CYGHA Silver Stick Committee 2 19TH Annual International Silver Stick Aurora Finals Tournament 2018 International Silver Stick Aurora Girls Finals – Feb 2-4, 2018 Tournament Rules 1. OWHA and CHA rules will apply, except where listed below 2. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to make decisions regarding the interpretation of these rules. All such decisions are final. No protests are allowed. 3. Each team is guaranteed three (3) games; all games are stop time - Atom BB – 10,10,12 Periods - Atom A – 10, 10, 12 periods - Atom AA – 10, 10, 12 periods - Bantam BB – 10, 10, 12 periods - Bantam A games – 12, 15, 15 periods - Bantam AA games – 12, 15, 15 periods Bantam A, AA games played back to back will have floods every 2 periods. This will mean that some games will start without a flood, but flood between the 1st and 2nd period. Note: Floods (addition or deletion) will be at the discretion of the Tournament Convenor and/or the referee on the ice if the need arises. (e.g. overtime, weather, injury, etc.) 4. No overtime will be played except in the quarter finals, semi-finals and finals. 5. Two (2) points for a win; One (1) point for a tie; Zero (0) points for a loss. In the event of a default, the team which is not in default receives two (2) points and a 1-0 win, recorded in their favor. In the event of a game cancellation due to inclement weather, we will attempt to reschedule the game. If unable to reschedule the game, a score of 0 – 0 will be recorded. 6. Teams are to be ready to go on the ice up to thirty (30) minutes prior to the start of their scheduled game time. 7. There will be a three (3) minute warm up time at the start of each game. 8. In the third period of any game, if there is a five (5) goal differential, the clock will run. If a penalty occurs during run time it will be posted as a 3 minute run time. Stop time will only resume if a three (3) goal differential is reached. At the sole discretion of the referee, the clock may be stopped due to an injury or intentional delay of the game by one of the teams. 9. In the event of a tie at the end of the round robin, the following format will be used to determine which teams will advance to the quarter finals, semi-finals or finals. (a) Number of wins; (b) Head-to-head record between tied teams; 3 19TH Annual International Silver Stick Aurora Finals Tournament 2018 (c) Goals for minus goals against (with a 5 goal maximum differential per game) of all games played within the round robin; (d) Fewest goals allowed in round robin play; (e) Most periods won in round robin play; (f) Lowest total penalty minutes incurred within the round robin; (g) First goal scored in series; (h) Flip of a coin. 10. Quarter finals, Semi-Finals and Finals Atom AA The first place Red team will play the second place White team in the semi’s The first place White team will play the second place Red team in the semi's The winners of the semi's will advance to the finals Atom A The first place Red team will play the second place White team in the semi’s The first place White team will play the second place Red team in the semi's The winners of the semi's will advance to the finals Atom BB The first place team will play the second place team in the finals Bantam BB The top team in each division will be ranked one two and three as per rule #9. Teams ranked one and two will advance directly to the semifinals. There will be an elimination round for the top team ranked 3rd and the three second place teams from each division. These 4 teams will be ranked 1st to 4th place as per rule #9 1st place will play 4th place 2nd place will play 3rd place No team will play a team they have already played in the round robin Winners of the elimination games will advance to the semi finals as shown in the schedule Bantam A The first place Red team will play the second place White team in the semi’s The first place White team will play the second place Red team in the semi's The winners of the semi's will advance to the finals Bantam AA The first place Red team will play the second place White team in the 1/4 finals The first place White team will play the second place Red team in the 1/4 finals The first place Blue team will play the second place Green team in the 1/4 finals The first place Green team will play the second place Blue team in the 1/4 finals The winner of game 61 will play the winner of game 73 in the semis The winner of game 72 will play the winner of game 93 in the semis The winner of quarter finals will play in the semis The winners of the semi's will advance to the finals 4 19TH Annual International Silver Stick Aurora Finals Tournament 2018 In the event of a tie in the quarter finals, semi-finals or finals, one (1) five (5) minute, 3 on 3 sudden victory overtime period will be played. If a penalty occurs during 3 on 3 play in overtime the penalized team will remain at 3 skaters and the unpenalized team will play with 4 skaters. Play will resume at 3 on 3 when all penalties have expired at the next stoppage in play. If still tied after the overtime, a shoot-out will take place where teams will shoot alternatively. The home team will decide who shoots first. If tied after three (3) shots by each team, the shoot-out continues until one team scores, while the other team does not. All players must have had a shot prior to a player taking a second shot. Any player serving a penalty that has not expired at the game’s end is ineligible to participate in the entire shoot-out. Three (3) shooters, plus an alternate, on each team must be declared in order on the game sheet before the players go on the ice, or shooters will be as shown in order of the game sheet. There will be one (1) thirty (30) second time out allowed to each team in each quarter final, semi-final and final games. 10. Teams will register at the rink of their first game. A maximum nineteen (19) players (including team roster submitted with the application form. Official rosters and applicable additional documents (Pick-Up, Change of participant, Coaching Certificates, Travel Permits, Insurance, etc.) must be provided at sign in. 11. Tournament is open only to OWHA sanctioned teams or teams registered with USA Hockey and all players must be registered with the OWHA or USA Hockey. 12. All equipment requirements are determined by the team’s home organization. Ontario teams note neck guards are mandatory. US teams must wear the equipment required by their sanctioning body. 13. Referee’s decision is final and not subject to appeal or grievance. 14. Suspensions – OWHA rules will apply, except that intent to injure and fighting penalties will result in the player being expelled from the game and the remainder of the tournament. 15. Home team will wear their LIGHT colored jerseys. In the event of sweater color conflict, the home team will change. Teams must notify the opposing team at sign in if a conflict is present.
