Today Bowling Green State University is happy to put out the welcome mat to a new BG football opponent, Bradley University of Peoria, Illinois, and to the many dads of students here today to help celebrate this annual autumn occasion, Dad's Day. This is the first gridiron meeting between the two schools. In fact this is the first scheduled event • iwn3j-kind for BU and BG' The schools participated in the 1949 National Invitational cage tournament in Madison Square Garden, but both were unfortunate to lose in the semi-finals. Therefore, the consolation game saw the Braves and Falcons fighting for third place honors. Harold Anderson's BG quintet won out 82 to 77. However, the Braves are here today with one of the outstanding football teams of Bradley history. Coach Art Bergstrom already has watched his warriors chalk up 90 points in winning over Ripon, 33 to 0 and last week waltz over Colorado (Adams) State College 57 to 0 to remain one of the nation's'teams with their own goal unscatched. > Bradley joined the Missouri Valley Conference in 1948 and Bergstrom, who took over the gridiron reigns then, has been building his own pigskin parade at Peoria to cope with the other MV powers. Drake Tulsa, Wichita, Detroit and Oklahoma A & M. ' But this season looks like one of winning ways for the Braves. Bergstrom has his T-formation attack built around three sophomore backs and another trio of first year linemen. Bobby Watson, a 5-9 155- pound quarterback runs the attack and provides the Braves with a passer deluxe for two fine ends John Wilson and Bill Tuttle. Tuttle is one of the leading scorers in the Conference with 18 points. But Gerald Stamp is leading the Brave scoring parade with 21 points. Last year Stamp was second in the nation m kicking field goals with three. Already this season the senior quarterback has booted five field goals and nine extra points. ■ Other Brave standouts include Gerald Jacobs and Walt Ingram in the backfield. On the line Ralph Barclay a 254-pound tackle; Bill Bushell, a hard charging guard; Tom Timmis, recently moved from end to guard, and Arnold Van Etten, an offensive end and pass defense specialist, led the Bradley attack
