Rugged, Low Stretch, High Tear Strength, DIAX2 Base Membrane
The basis of this unique sail is the proven DIAX2 laminated sailcloth. This extremely rugged composite utilises non-woven off the threadline fibre in multiple directions to create a super strong base material. As within our efficient sailcloth laminates, adhesive weights are kept to a minimum to ensure a long lasting bond but also incorporate weight to strength efficiencies not seen in other membrane products.
Cross Cut Shaping with Non-Load Bearing Seams
DIAX2 LP is shaped and assembled using proven cross cut sailcloth methods, creating a highly efficient and rugged base to apply directional fibres. Aramid Twaron or Carbon are then bonded to the base fabric using an exclusive application technique.
Continuous Aramid / Carbon Load Path Fibre Alignment
Individual fibres radiate from the corners of the sail and are grouped according to the DPI requirements of each specific sail. The fibres are continuous from head to foot and clew to luff, traversing each seam to create a finished membrane with uninterrupted stretch resistance. This extensive, continuous fibre coverage combined with a DIAX2 base creates not only a very efficient sail membrane, but an extremely durable one as well.

Each DIAX2 LP sail membrane is custom made to the sailmaker’s design and specifications. The DIAX2 base is available in many configurations to meet extensive specific sail applications. Each sail can be engineered to exacting base and load path DPI assuring the most efficient use of low stretch fibre.

The CL-P range of Taffeta-on-Taffeta Polyester laminates is suitable for cruising applications up to 45ft. The range utilises a strong Polyester scrim to resist stretch and light but tough Polyester woven taffetas to provide tear strength and impact resistance.
• Zero Crimp Warp Scrim: The 0-90 load bearing scrim utilises high quality Polyester fibre. Warp efficiency is further improved by a manufacturing technique that virtually eliminates warp crimp. • Durability: Bainbridge CL-P’s are famous for their durability. By encapsulating the film and scrim in tough Polyester taffetas, they are protected from chafe, cracking and UV. • Mildew Resistance: All CL products utilise a mildew inhibiting fungicide in the adhesive. This reduces the mildew problems that can be associated with this type of fabric. • Soft Hand: The components used have been specifically selected to produce a fabric with a soft hand. Making the cloth softer reduces fibre breakdown, extends life and makes sails easier to use and handle. • Technical Support: Performance graphs are available in electronic format via email for all production batches.

CL-DIAX-LSP is a premium range of Taffeta-on-Taffeta laminates that utilises PEN warp fibre to reduce elongation. They are suitable for cruising applications up to 60ft and are an ideal mid range product, fitting between Polyester and Carbon products in price and performance. All styles are also available from stock with an alloy UV resistance.
• Moisture Resistance: Both scrims are sealed between two layers of film, reducing the moisture retention of the cloth. • Mildew Protection: Lower moisture absorption of the scrim works together with the fungicide in the adhesive to further reduce the mildew problems that can occur. • Improved Lamination: Both layers of taffeta are laminated to film. This is an inherently stronger bond than laminating taffeta to scrim as in regular CL-P fabrics. • Smooth Appearance: Twin films reduce the pattern show through the scrim. The cloth also has the same appearance and feel on both sides. • Bias Strength:The DIAX scrim increases bias strength, particularly important for reefed furling sails where the primary loads no longer follow the warp fibres.

The combination of zero crimp HMT scrims and HMT/Polyester woven Taffeta makes this composite fabric extremely rugged with very low stretch and very high ultimate strength; making it ideal for offshore applications.
• High Strength, Lightweight Performance: Twaron warp fibres combined with very high pressure lamination reduces stretch allowing for lighter, stronger sails. • HMT/Polyester Fill, Alternating HM Twaron and Polyester fibres are used in the fill. The HMT provides stretch resistance while the Polyester contributes extended flex life. • Dyneema DIAX: Bias loads are controlled by the addition of Dyneema DIAX. This also reduces loading on the film to increase sail life and locks the warp and fill fibres together to add stability to the material so panels will hold their shape over a wider working range.

The DIAX-PP-P range of Film-on-Taffeta fabrics is designed to provide greater strength and durability than standard DIAX-P equivalents - achieved through substituting one of the film layers for a light weight woven taffeta. DIAX-PP-P products are ideal for club race applications where extending the competitive life of the sail is a greater priority than ultimate lightweight.
• Zero Crimp Warp Scrim: The 0-90 load bearing scrim utilises best quality fibre. The manufacturing technique virtually eliminates warp crimp to further reduce stretch. • Stability: The 45 degree Polyester DIAX grid forms a diagonal stabiliser to the 0-90 scrim, increasing panel stability for improved shape retention. • Durability: The DIAX reduces film loading, prolonging sail life. It also forms a truss to share load across warp fibres. This reduces the shear effect within the laminate that can cause rapid breakdown of the fabric. • Light Weight: The 1.5mil film-on-film construction minimises cloth weight.

With a higher modulous than standard Polyester, these fabrics deliver reduced stretch and increased performance for the same weight.
They are ideal for small keelboat and sportsboats - applications that demand more strength than standard Polyester and one- design classes where high modulous fibres, such as HMT, are not allowed.
• PEN Warp: All warp fibres are PENTEX, used in a zero crimp 0-90 scrim. • PEN Warp: New plied / stacked warp fibres enable reduced crimp, greater adhesive bond and improved 1%’s. • Polyester Fill: More durable and softer Polyester is used in the fill to prolong competitive sail life. • Durable: The soft scrim binder and Polyester fill serve to make a more durable product with softer hand. • DIAX Stability: The Polyester DIAX reduces film loading, stabilises the bias and makes a 45 degree truss that reduces the shear effect within the laminate that can cause rapid breakdown of the fabric. • Light Weight: The 1.5mil film-on-film makes for a cloth with increased performance yet the same light weight compared to DIAX-P products.

Unlike a coating that sits on top of the weave, the impregnation pink red yellow surrounds the fibre, making for a more durable finish. An additional light coating is then applied that further stabilises the cloth and provides zero porosity. MP-70 is based on a 40 x 40 balanced construction and MP-75 is based on a 30 x 30 balanced construction.
MP-90 Spinnaker Fabric is based on a tried and tested 70 x 70 balanced construction. Stabilised by green aqua blue royal blue a resin impregnation, MP-90 is an ideal choice for heavy air spinnakers and all round cruising, covering a wide range of wind strengths.

Two new hinge units have been introduced to link Sailman batten boxes to Harken and Antal track systems. Fredriksen also produce a range of cars with Sailman arms to connect directly to Series 55 boxes. Harken, Antal and Fredricksen all produce cars with M10 connector arms that are compatible with Sailman series 25, 35 and 55 luff boxes. Most batten boxes using an M10 thread can be connected to Sailman slides. M12 threaded versions of Sailman 5000 cars are available for luff boxes that use a larger connection.

By using a specifically designed external track that is attached to the back of the mast friction is minimized making for a more durable and easy to use sail handling system.
