Canoeing has inherent risk. The following risks and the actions required are specific to this event:

Other river traffic may be present, even though we have closed the river on the event half. When you are in the open channel of the river, you MUST obey the by-laws, including keeping to the right of oncoming river traffic.

The water can get rough. If you are in any doubt about your ability to handle rough water, you should consider wearing a buoyancy aid. At any point up to the start of the race, we may make buoyancy aids compulsory for any/all competitors.

Leptospirosis (Weil’s Disease) and other waterborne illnesses may be present in the river. Because we are una- ble to offer shower facilities, you MUST wash/sanitise your hands before eating/drinking.

We recommend you cover any cuts/scratches with a plaster before competing. We recommend you shower as soon as possible after the event.
