March-April 2000 Issue Number 185 SAHTOPS 900 The Society reached an historic milestone on Saturday, January 22nd, with the enrollment of the Automobile Club de France as a complimentary member, number 2362. At that moment, the active membership of the Society reached 900, a new hjgh for our 30-plus years of operation. The ACF, host of our annual European meeting and dinner, and Britain's Royal Automobile Club, number 2361, were voted to membership by the directors last year; the memberships were formally presented at this year's Paris meeting on February I Oth. The membership didn't stay at 900 for long. A few hours OLDSMOBILE/GM HERITAGE later, the reinstatement of Kenny Buttalph of the Old Cars and CENTER OPENS IN LANSING Krau e publications staff pushed the active number to 901. Kenny first joined in 198 I, and was assigned member number At a function attended by a large number of persons, 839. Welcome back, Kenny! inc luding local civic leaders, auto indu try executive and SAH members, the new Oldsmobile/OM Heritage Center was formally opened in Lan ing, Michigan, on Wedne day, December 1, 1999. The new center, several year in the making, offers a unique per pective of Old mobile' contribution to automotive transportation. Hou ed in a recently remodeled early twentieth-century building, the center Inside the Journal... features an extensive collection of Oldsmobile Editorial Comment ....... .. .... ... .2 automobiles, photographs, documents, artifacts and President's Perspective ...............3 memorabilia. Many of the e item have never before been seen by the public.
