Et en 2015, pour la 14e édition du festival, les petits plats sont mis dans les grands. Fraîchement couronnée de plusieurs Victoires de la Musique, Christine And The Queens est devenue en 3 ans l'icône française de la pop. Elle surprend par sa capacité à fédérer autour de sa musique, riche et originale, et affiche un caractère unique dans le paysage des musiques actuelles. Autre sensation, The Dø est un groupe qui a su intriguer dès son apparition. Ecriture impeccable, remise en cause dès le second album, puis virage vers une pop électro plus frontale, The Dø fait partie des rares groupes français connaissant un vrai succès à l'international, au même titre que Yelle dont la popularité outre-atlantique ne cesse de grandir. Quant à Fakear, nouveau fer de lance de la scène électro française, il affole tous les compteurs depuis quelques mois. Représentatif d'une nouvelle génération d'artistes normcore et DIY, adepte des sons old school, de jazz, de musiques du monde et de labels hybrides tels que Ninja Tune, il délivre une esthétique qui lui est propre, rendant au trip hop le lustre et l'énergie qu'il mérite. Il sera accompagné de deux grands espoirs de cette nouvelle génération de producteurs, avec Dream Koala et Superpoze, ce dernier étant l'auteur d'un album magnifique cette année. Une nouvelle très belle édition de Pantiero en perspective, avec une fois encore un équilibre délicat entre tête d'affiches et jeunes pousses, comme Paradis et Holy Two qu'il faudra absolument découvrir cet été. Jean-Marie Sevain, directeur artistique Cannois d'origine, Jean-Marie Sevain a passé de nombreuses années dans le milieu des musiques indépendantes, en tant que DJ mais aussi à la tête d'un club près de Lyon dans les années 90. Il est également co-fondateur de Génération Spontanée, structure productrice de concerts à Lyon. Il assure depuis 2002 la direction artistique du festival Pantiero dont la programmation est le reflet de son parcours riche et varié. Pantiero un festival précurseur Créé en 2002 à l’initiative du Palais des Festivals et de la Ville de Cannes, Pantiero est un festival de musiques actuelles mettant à l’honneur la scène électro nationale et internationale. En proposant un plateau audacieux d’artistes confirmés et de nouvelles découvertes, Pantiero se positionne comme un festival précurseur, véritable dénicheur de talents ! D’abord connue seule en scène avec son ordinateur, puis retrouvée sur les premières parties de The Dø, puis de Stromae. Sa prestation à la grâce saisissante aux Victoires de la Musique 2014 la révèle au plus grand nombre. Aujourd’hui, accompagnée de musiciens et de danseurs, Christine And The Queens offre un « show » freaky et pop qui mêle musique, théâtre, danse et vidéo. Après la sortie de deux maxis, le groupe dévoile en 2014 les titres Garde Le Pour Toi et Sur Une Chanson En Français qui suscitent instantanément l’enthousiasme et s’illustrent de clips hypnotiques tournés par le réalisateur anglais Daniel Brereton. Au-delà de la musique, Holy Two poursuit une démarche artistique globale, prônant la complémentarité entre l’image et le son. Cette sensation de profonde mélancolie mêlée à une joie intense, parfois sombre, souvent puissante, toujours spirituelle, c’est ce que Holy Two fait ressentir dans ses compositions. Ce jeune caennais de 23 ans, influencé par la French Touch, les labels Ninja Tune et Warp, et les beatmakers de Brainfeeder et Alpha Pup, est à l’aise aussi bien en composition qu’en remix. Prolifique, il sort 1 album et 4 EPs de « feel good music » qui le propulsent sur les scènes réputées de Marsatac, des Vieilles Charrues et des Transmusicales. Le 6 Avril dernier, Gabriel nous a livré son second album sobrement intitulé Opening, dont le single Unlive est un premier extrait planant et contemplatif.

Years before the internet made rarefied musical expertise something one could access at the click of a button, knowing about outsider psych and tropicalia records that nobody else did was the ultimate currency of cool – and walking up to the counter with your selection felt less like a commercial transaction than a test. Clerks at East Village institution Kim’s Video, a dry cleaning shop turned film and music emporium, were so prickly with customers they deemed to have sub- par taste that one former patron compared his love for the place to an «S & M» relationship. (I worked there for a few summers in high school, and he wasn’t off the mark.) The first time I wandered into Other Music, a cramped hole-in-the-wall on West Fourth Street founded in 1995 by three former Kim’s employees, I felt like I had walked into the most intimidating record store of all. Back then, PPL had just two FOR 75 YEARS, members – EMI and Decca. Now we have over 3,400 record companies and, following a merger with the principal performer societies, 39,500 performers. In addition, our reach has extended to include international repertoire and overseas PPL HAS BEEN royalties through 42 bilateral agreements with similar organisations around the world. The PPL licence is equally valuable to other users, such as commercial radio stations, BT Vision, Virgin Media, Last.fm and even the fourteen oil rigs that want to keep their oil workers entertained on their tours of duty. FOR THE MUSIC For the performers and record companies who entrust their rights to PPL, the income from these new distribution outlets is becoming increasingly valuable.
