GORILLA SAFARI UGANDA – 4 DAYS Unforgettable encounter with the endangered Mountain Gorillas of Uganda! Day 1 Kampala - Bwindi National Park (9-10 hours) Very early in the morning we leave Kampala for a long journey towards the western part of Uganda. It is a full day drive but via a scenic route. On our way we will pass the Equator where you may take a photo or shop for a souvenir. After lunch in the town of Mbarara, enjoy a scenic drive through the verdant countryside. You will pass traditional homesteads and villages, waving children and wonderful views of the countryside and mountains. (L-D) Day 2 Gorilla Tracking The highlight of your safari: a meeting with the gentle giants of Bwindi! Tracking the gorillas may take from an hour to eight hours depending on where the gorillas are on each particular day. But the long trek will definitely be worthwhile as you observe the gorilla family closely while they eat, play and rest. A unique and unforgettable experience! For conservation purposes, time spent with the gorillas is limited to one hour. The ranger guide always briefs you on how to behave with these giant apes. (B-L-D) Day 3 Bwindi - Lake Mburo National Park (5 hours) After breakfast we depart the impenetrable forest of Bwindi and head to Lake Mburo National Park. As we enter the park it is likely that you will spot some wildlife – Zebra, topi, impala, waterbuck, oribi, eland, buffalo, hippo, warthogs and crocodile. Check into your lodge and after lunch depart for a boat trip on Lake Mburo and enjoy the rich and varied bird life and the many hippos that are cooling off. (B-L-D) Day 4 Lake Mburo National Park - Kampala (4-5 hours) There will be an early start today as you head off for a nature safari walk around the lake guided by a ranger. Lake Mburo is the only national park where you can experience a safari on foot and there is the chance that you may see the elusive shoebill. Return to the lodge for breakfast and with a game drive. On the way out of the park enjoy further wildlife viewing and then drive back to Kampala. (B-L) Transport is by 4WD safari vehicle with your own private English speaking driver/safari guide. Bottled mineral water is provided in the safari vehicle. Currently, entrance visa for UK citizens costs $50 and is available upon arrival at Entebbe Airport. .
