Rebecca + Elliott-Final
Rebecca + Elliott "Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope." Maya Angelou Hello! Welcome to our story. We are Elliott, Rebecca, and Ellie. We are a family created by adoption and love. We want to share a little about our hearts and hopefully get to know yours one day soon. Through this book, we hope that you can see our love of life and family and our genuine desire to be the best parents possible. We adopted our daughter, Ellie, four years ago so our family understands the importance of the decision you are considering. If our family feels like home for your child, we would be blessed by your trust in us. Whatever your choice may be, please know that we are thinking about you, praying for you, and support you as you seek what feels right for you and your baby. With great love, Rebecca and Elliott We are a c o n n e c t e d f a m i l y and love to spend time with each other. It’s our g r e a t e s t j o y to just laugh with one another. Where it all began We met in college. Mutual friends introduced us and we found ourselves talking all night at a friend's birthday party. Elliott invited Rebecca to be his date at his sister's party the following weekend, and we have been together ever since! At the end of college, Elliott got a job in Memphis, TN and Rebecca was accepted to graduate school at Vanderbilt. -

Paul Mccartney, 1980-1999
Paul McCartney from Wings through the 90's McCartney II Columbia FC‐36511 May 21, 1980 About ten years after recording McCartney by himself, Paul got several songs together and recorded them‐‐again alone‐‐on somewhat of a lark. Then Paul embarked on his ill‐fated 1980 tour of Japan (which resulted in his being jailed for drug possession). After returning to the safety of his own home, he was urged to release the album, and he did. The album contrasts well with McCartney, for this second production contains numerous instruments and electronic tricks that were not present on the 1970 release. Side One is particularly interesting. The solo version of "Coming Up" is followed by the fun track, "Temporary Secretary" (released as a single in England). The almost‐lament, "On the Way," is then succeeded by "Waterfalls," Paul's second (US) single from the album. "Bogey Music," from Side Two, is also a standout. John Lennon heard a song from McCartney II and thought that Paul sounded sad. When the album was released in the US, a bonus one‐sided single ‐‐ the hit version of "Coming Up"‐‐was included with the LP. This hit was enough to propel the album to the #3 position on the charts, during a time when disco was now on the wane. "Waterfalls" Columbia 1‐11335 Jul. 22, 1980 The lovely ballad about protectiveness was one of the standouts from McCartney II. After "Coming Up," it received the most airplay and the most positive response from Paul's friends. As a single, though, the song fared poorly, only reaching #83...one of Paul's worst showings to date. -

Recommended Reading List Grades 9-12
Recommended Reading List Grades 9-12 The Hate U Give meets Just Mercy in this unflinching yet uplifting first novel that explores the racist injustices in the American justice system. Every week, seventeen-year-old Tracy Beaumont writes letters to Innocence X, asking the organization to help her father, an innocent Black man on death row. After seven years, Tracy is running out of time--her dad has only 267 days left. Then the unthinkable happens. The police arrive in the night, and Tracy's older brother, Jamal, goes from being a bright, promising track star to a "thug" on the run, accused of killing a white girl. Determined to save her brother, Tracy investigates what really happened between Jamal and Angela down at the Pike. But will Tracy and her family survive the uncovering of the skeletons of their Texas town's racist history that still haunt the present? Available in print, ebook, and audio format from the Fresno County Public Library This collection of sixty-four poems by poets who come from all over the world shares the experience of first- and second-generation young adult immigrants and refugees. Whether it’s cultural and language differences, homesickness, social exclusion, racism, stereotyping, or questions of identity, the Dreamers, immigrants, and refugee poets included here encourage readers to honor their roots as well as explore new paths, offering empathy and hope. Many of the struggles described are faced by young people everywhere: isolation, self-doubt, confusion, and emotional dislocation. But also joy, discovery, safety, and family. This is a hopeful, beautiful, and meaningful book for any reader. -

The next day everyone made individual activities with their host families before the whole team met at the house of Sandy and Dale Molander for a barbecue. After the meal, some of us enjoyed, fitted with a brand new Longhorn-cap, a boat trip on the huge artificial lake of Ce- dar Creek. Later in the evening, we had our first presentation for a small group of Rotarians. Galatea's Daughters: Dolls, Female Identity and the Material Imagination
Galatea‘s Daughters: Dolls, Female Identity and the Material Imagination in Victorian Literature and Culture Dissertation Presented in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree Doctor of Philosophy in the Graduate School of The Ohio State University By Maria Eugenia Gonzalez-Posse, M.A. Graduate Program in English The Ohio State University 2012 Dissertation Committee: David G. Riede, Advisor Jill Galvan Clare A. Simmons Copyright by Maria Eugenia Gonzalez-Posse 2012 Abstract The doll, as we conceive of it today, is the product of a Victorian cultural phenomenon. It was not until the middle of the nineteenth century that a dedicated doll industry was developed and that dolls began to find their way into children‘s literature, the rhetoric of femininity, periodical publications and canonical texts. Surprisingly, the Victorian fascination with the doll has largely gone unexamined and critics and readers have tended to dismiss dolls as mere agents of female acculturation. Guided by the recent material turn in Victorian studies and drawing extensively from texts only recently made available through digitization projects and periodical databases, my dissertation seeks to provide a richer account of the way this most fraught and symbolic of objects figured in the lives and imaginations of the Victorians. By studying the treatment of dolls in canonical literature alongside hitherto neglected texts and genres and framing these readings in their larger cultural contexts, the doll emerges not as a symbol of female passivity but as an object celebrated for its remarkable imaginative potential. The doll, I argue, is therefore best understood as a descendant of Galatea – as a woman turned object, but also as an object that Victorians constantly and variously brought to life through the imagination. -
