Speaks for itslf as do the photos that follow. Enough to say that Saturday was a truly outstanding day for our Prems, particularly Ollie Pringle and Harry Miller. Ollie was very well supported by Ganesh and by Josh and then our batsmen showed that there weren’t too many terors in the pitch. First, Ben Rae set ot to dominate the University attack and Ollie, opening in Ben Rainger’s absence, relished a chance to bat instead of languishing at 10 or 11 as he has had to do for Auckland A. – pity he missed out on his 50. Then Andy Lane and Brad Rodden rollicked along – some superb strokeplay as the photos show. To cap it, Giacomo, on Prem debut replacing the injured Dean van Deventer, clobbered 20 off just 7 balls to allow Brad to declare. Enough time left for Ollie and Ganesh to wreck more havoc – 3/15, including Beecroft’s wicket (he an NZ U19 rep.), another catch to Harry, but no more success and the total was 41/3 at stumps. Men’s Premier Reserve Grade – 2 Day Major Championship 3 November Round 1. PARNELL vs PAPATOETOE at Shore Road Reserve 1. PARNELL 300/9 Cam Gibbons 57 (103), Rory O’Brien 54 (109), Sam Klippel 61 (79), Cam Rope 51* Hugh Teesdale 21 (24), PAPATOETOE 14/1 Jesse Simpson 4/23 (9.3) PARNELL WON BY 68 RUNS Rory O’Brien - 54 Sam Klippel - 61 Cam Rope – 51* COACH (& VICAR) ROY GOODYEAR REPORTING: We won the toss and elected to bat on a wind swept day at Shore Road, good decision by our skipper Cam Gibbons as we went on to make 300 for 9 declared off 86.3 overs. Main contributions came from: Cam Gibbons, who along with Rory O'Brien, both made 50's. Cam 57 off 103 balls and Rory 54 off 109 balls, a partnership of 114 off 200 balls. It was hard work upfront and these two gentlemen put their heads down and blunted the attack. Sam Klippel continued his good run of form and added another half century, 61 off 79 balls, along with Cam Ropey who scored yet another half century (undefeated 51) in our total. This allowed our tailender's to accelerate and, a quick fire knock of 21 off 24 balls by debutante Hugh Teesdale (whose opening scoring shot was a 6) and Prasant Dhanjee who scored 16 off 9 balls including another 6. A really good batting display, with the top order setting it up through good partnerships and taking the "wind out of Papatoetoe's sails" so to speak!! We had 11 overs at Papa and succeeded in taking one wicket, Simon Walker getting the initial break through in his 3rd over courtesy of an excellent catch by Will Ormiston at 1st slip. Papa go into next Saturday with 14 runs on the board. A good day at the office by all. [Editor’s note – what an understatement from the Vicar! Few days have been as successful for the Club. Three of the four Senior teams have already secured 1st innings points and our Reserves are extremely well placed, too. Ed.] Women’s Premier Reserves – T20 Champs. 3 November Round 1. Men’s Senior Grades – 2 Day Champs. THIRDS – 4th Grade: 3 November Round 1. PARNELL vs AUCKLAND UNIVERSITY at Orakei Domain AUCKLAND UNIVERSITY 119/10 (51) Mohan Wali 2/39 (13), Ashwin Haran 3/22 (10), Elliot Pike 5/19 (13.3) PARNELL 126/2 Vishal Patel 62*, Jack Crace 24* TO BE CONTINUED NEXT SATURDAY Mohan Wali – 2 wickets in his 1st over Ashwin Haran – 3 for 22 off 10 overs with his leggies - CAPTAIN ELLIOT JAFFE REPORTING: Skipper Jaffe won the toss on a green looking pitch, which proved a good call as opening bowler Mohan Wali took 2 wickets in his first over. After a barrage of boundaries from the opposition, Ashwin Haran picked up two important scalps to leave the opposition 67/4 after 20 overs. From this point, the opposition never truly recovered as they slowly stuttered to 119 in 51 overs all out as debutant Elliot Pike produced a beautiful spell of bowling to earn himself a 5-wicket bag. An excellent bowling display from the trio of Elliot Pike (5/19 off 13.3 overs), Ashwin Haran (3/22 off 10 overs), and Mohan Wali (2/39 off 13 overs) secured this dominant performance with the ball. Notable mentions also go to Matt Lobb (0/27 off 8 overs) and Luke O’Toole who started the day as wicketkeeper, then turning out to bowl a great spell (0/7 off 6 overs). Going in to bat, openers Vishal Patel and Luke O’Toole started positively putting on a partnership of 37, before O’Toole departed for 19(28). Absar Ul Hasan came in and in typical fashion grinded out a gritty 12(52) before being ajudged lbw to leave us 72/2. Vishal Patel meanwhile brought up a fashionable 50 and ended the day 62*(99), while Jack Crace came in and scored a quickfire 24*(31) helping us to secure first innings points by the end of the day. At stumps, we are 126/2 with plenty of batting left to come, and a fine opportunity is in our hands to deliver an outright win to set the tone for the season. FOURTHS – 7th Grade – Two Day Championship: 3 November Round 1. PARNELL vs TAKAPUNA at Shepherds Park PARNELL 323/6 dec (60) Wesley van Wyk 70, Eli Paewai 104, Lance Pooley 43, Hans Kariyawasam 25. TAKAPUNA 67/3 TO BE CONTINUED NEXT SATURDAY The Fourths – taken on 20 Oct. vs Kumeu SKIPPER JAMES PARTRIDGE REPORTING: We arrived at Shepherds Park overcoming weather and a heavy winds, both ourselves and the opposition were short on number at the toss which we lost and were sent in to bat. With only one opener from our previous week, we sent Eli Paewai in with Sam Noland which was shortly lived as Noland was trapped plumb in front LBW for 2. Noland was shortly joined by Logan Strange as he was bowled through the gate for 1. We were on the ropes two down with only 10 runs on the board. In came Wesley van Wyk to join Paewai, a partnership of 150 runs taking us on to 160 after 41 overs, when van Wyk departed for 70.
