The route passes through the Clarendon Estate and close to the 12th century ruins of Clarendon Palace. It then passes through the villages Pitton, the Winterslows, Broughton and King's Somborne, Farley Mount Country Park and St Cross.

Each profile compares against average Poole figures. As far as possible the statistical information within this document is the most recently available at the time. Data sources are identified for each chart and table. These profiles use data from the 2011 Census however more in-depth Census Ward profiles were produced by the Corporate Research Team in August 2013. Please go to www.boroughofpoole.com/2011census for more information on the 2011 Census. Ward boundaries were changed slightly in 2014. These profiles are based on boundaries prior to this date. New profiles will be prepared for the new ward boundaries in due course. Overview Canford Cliffs Ward is located in the south east of Poole and shares boundaries Branksome East, Branksome West and Penn Hill. The residential area of Branksome Park (also a conservation area) makes up the majority of this ward with Canford Cliffs located to the south west and Sandbanks in the south. Branksome Park Wood, and Branksome Chine Gardens run down the centre of the ward, and Branksome Dene Chine gardens are located in the east of the ward. A little young to fully understand what was going on – I soon learnt! We were living in the white cottage just up from what is now Rostron Close in Chalk Hill. In those days it was attached to the Scaffolding (Great Britain) depot and an aunt and uncle lived next door and shared our pantry as a makeshift air raid shelter. This room had a door leading into the back yard. My first vivid memory was (I think) during the Blitz on Southampton. The most frightening incident was my father and uncle holding onto the door which was shaking from the blast of bombs.

    PITTON VILLAGE FLOOD PLAN This plan is intended to assist Pitton in preparing for any future flood, giving details of the operational aspects for mitigating the effects of flooding, e.g. protecting property and managing the flood. Pitton villagers have supported the creation of this plan, together with the establishment of a Support Group and a Flood Warden. Information for anyone affected by flooding, plus the responsibilities of volunteers in Pitton and other organisations are described in the following pages. The actions expected of each organisation are listed in the plan, but that does not mean to say that the organisations necessarily accept that it is their responsibility to do so. Flooding is caused by high groundwater During the flooding that Pitton periodically suffers from • Some houses in the centre of the village are liable to flood. • The High Street and Black Lane suffer from high water levels, which cause closure and inconvenience. • The elderly and less able of the locality suffer hardship and need help. • Some householders require Portaloos, or have to use upstairs facilities. • There is some disruption to business. • Some deliveries cannot be made to the village shop. • Some days children cannot get to Salisbury schools. • Access becomes difficult to many properties & cars become waterlogged. • Gardens get flooded.
