    Public Notice posted in accordance with New Jersey Office of Historic Preservation Permit Conditions PUBLIC NOTICE FERRYBOAT BINGHAMTON REVOVAL FOR PRESERVATION AND RESTORATION BOROUGH OF EDGEWATER, NEW JERSEY April 1st, 2016 The NOEL LOVE GROSS, TRUSTEE OF TRUST B UNDER ARTICLE IIIB OF THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF NELSON G. GROSS seeking interested qualified parties to enter into an agreement to remove the ferryboat Binghamton from its current site, in Edgewater New Jersey, for the purpose of preservation and restoration. The ferryboat Binghamton is a National Register structure which was constructed from 1904- 1905. This ferryboat was one of six steam-powered screw-propeller, double-ended ferryboats built by the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock for the Hoboken Ferryboat Company. The ferryboat served from 1905-1967 between Hoboken and Manhattan before being sold and turned into a restaurant in 1975, known as Binghamton’s. The ferryboat Binghamton was put on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. She is the last extant steam-powered double- ended double-screw Hudson River ferry. The ferryboat was damaged in Superstorm Sandy in October of 2012 and remains moored in the Borough of Edgewater, New Jersey. NOEL LOVE GROSS, TRUSTEE OF TRUST B UNDER ARTICLE IIIB OF THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF NELSON G. GROSS has plans to redevelop the site after the removal of the vessel. While the ferryboat is a National Register site, the condition of the vessel is poor. After the ferryboat was moved to her present location in 1975, the 500-ton steam boilers were removed and 640 tons of concrete were poured into the hull as ballast.

    welcome here are few cities in the United States where members of the OAH prefer to meet more than the City by the Bay. San Francisco as a conference Tcity or as a tourist destination is hard to beat—it has something for every visitor. Our 2013 program, likewise, has something for every OAH conferee. The program committee, so ably cochaired by Tom Guglielmo and Erika Lee, assembled sessions, panels, workshops, and plenaries that link to nearly every subfield of American history. A large number link directly to the conference theme of “Entangled Histories,” which explores the complexities, intersections, and tensions that characterize so much of US history. Although we cannot promise ideal California weather in April, we can promise an engaging and rich intellectual experience. Plenary sessions, featuring an outstanding cast of colleagues, will consider two different topics. The first, titled “Freedom Struggles”—in commemoration of the Emancipation Proclamation signed by President Abraham Lincoln 150 years ago—will address benchmark Linda A. Cicero / Stanford News Service developments in the long history of Americans’ pursuit of equality. A second plenary will focus on the topic of “corporations in American life,” a subject of enormous importance to the history of industrial capitalism in the United States. It is a topic with a contemporary resonance that matches its historical significance. Both plenary sessions reflect “entangled histories,” the first about race, in knowledge about the area; a bus tour of the Mission ideologies of difference, and power, and the other about District’s world-famous murals; or a must-see tour of the wealth, class, and power.

    Chapter 5B: Transportation Services 5B.1 INTRODUCTION Chapter 5 of this Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) presents the evaluation the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and the New Jersey Transit Corporation (NJ TRANSIT) conducted of the impacts of construction and operation of the Hudson Tunnel Project on transportation conditions. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ), in its role as Project Sponsor, has accepted and relied on the evaluations and conclusions of this chapter. This chapter is divided into two subchapters, Chapter 5A, “Traffic and Pedestrians,” and Chapter 5B, “Transportation Services” (this chapter). Chapter 5A presents the evaluation of the Project’s effects during construction and operations on vehicular traffic on roadways and on pedestrian conditions. Chapter 5B presents the evaluation of the Project’s effects during construction and operation on the transportation services operating in the Project area, including passenger rail service (intercity passenger rail service and commuter rail services); the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail (HBLR) and New York City subway service; surface bus operations; Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH) rail service; freight rail; ferry and other maritime services; and helicopter operations at the West 30th Street Heliport in Manhattan. Unlike other chapters of this EIS that follow, this chapter is organized by transportation mode rather than geography. This chapter reflects the following changes made since the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the Hudson Tunnel Project: • The chapter is updated to describe current conditions in the affected environment and any related updates to the analysis of potential impacts. • The chapter includes revisions and clarifications in response to comments FRA and NJ TRANSIT received during the public comment period for the DEIS.
