Home Delivery Booklet HADDAD’S WEST PEORIA MARKET City Wide Home Delivery Service A complete guide to our home delivery service. Date 2/06/19– Prices May Change Without Notice Page 2 Haddad’s West Peoria Market Introduction First allow me to say thank you for your interest in our home delivery service. We are a small store in the current world of big box retailers, but our small size allows us to give you better service and better qual- ity. Attention to detail and a willingness to accommodate your needs are two of our primary goals. Our high standards for quality starts with the high standards we set for our employees. We expect them to treat every situation with the utmost professionalism whether it would be making a simple ham sandwich or mopping the backroom, they take pride in doing things right. That is why you can expect that you will receive the freshest quality products and service we have to offer. We started this program in 2001 as a way to better serve the growing number of seniors in our community. Since the beginning this program has been a huge success. This success allowed us in 2004 to buy a new full size delivery van and expand our service city wide. We now delivery weekly to Peoria, Pekin, Hanna City, East Peoria, Dunlap, and all the places in between. We are a full service grocery store with grocery, dairy, fro- zen food, general merchandise, bakery, deli, meat, and produce depart- ments. In our store, the deli makes everything fresh daily, as does our in store bakery. We also have a full time cook in our deli that creates some wonderful entrée dinners for you to enjoy. Our butchers cut only choice or better beef and cut our chickens fresh daily. We receive fresh produce 3 times a week to ensure we have only the freshest products to offer. Like I said before being small has some great advantages from making our products fresh daily to serving you the customer better. I hope you consider using our home delivery service. Mark Wrhel Owner Haddad’s West Peoria Market Page 3 How does the service work? We are able to take orders Monday thru Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. We deliver groceries Tuesday thru Thursday starting at 9:30 a.m. A 24-hour notice is required for delivery of an order. An example of this would be an order placed on Monday could be delivered on Tuesday at the earliest. As always you can tell us which day you would like your order, otherwise we will assume the next day. To place an order, simply call the home delivery line at the store 674-0171, and someone will direct you ac- cordingly. Due to the time involved in taking, placing, and delivering an order, a nominal service charge of $9.00 will be added to any order inside of West Peoria. Orders delivered in the city of Peoria run $12.00. Cities outside of Peoria will be charged $16.00, a few examples of these are Dunlap, Hanna City, and Pekin. We ask that you try to order a minimum of $30.00 dollars in gro- ceries. This is simply a number to come close to; this allows us to refuse an order for a gallon of milk or a loaf of bread. The delivery person will not be carrying cash. Checks are the pre- ferred method of payment. Please tell the person on the phone what your method of payment will be. If cash is your only option, I’m sure that some- thing can be worked out. Illinois Link , Discover, Visa, or MasterCard credit cards can also be used. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CALL IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS Delivery Hotline 674-0171 Haddad’s West Peoria Market Page 4 What happens after I place my order? After your order is placed, it is filled by the personal shopper. There is only one person that picks your grocery order every week, this helps limit confu- sion on what it is you are ordering. Any items you order from our perishable departments are noted and turned over to the different department heads. A produce manager will select your produce, your meat will be cut fresh by the meat cutter the morning of your delivery, and your deli order will be filled immediately before delivery. You have our personal guarantee that your order will be filled with nothing but the freshest products we have to offer. How do our prices compare? Our customers find that our prices are very competitive with other big box retailers. Our delivery customers pay the same price for their items as the customers that walk through our door. We also include the following weeks ad flyer each week to delivery customers with their orders. You can also view our ad on our website, www.haddadsmarket.com if you do not receive an order weekly. This allows our delivery customer to enjoy the same great deals as do our in store customers. Page 5 Who are the people running this service? With any service where people come into your home, people need to feel comfortable with them. Seniors are especially con- cerned with who comes and goes. This is why Haddad’s delivery service is a senior run program “run by seniors for seniors” as we like to say. Cindi-”The Home Delivery Coordinator” Cindi has been working for Haddad's for 5 years. She's been a personal shopper for friends and family for many years prior to working for us. She started out as just the personal shop- per, but has stepped up to fill the position as the Home Delivery Coordinator by taking orders as well. She is the friendly voice many of our customers have come to know on the phone in re- cent years. She is a very detail oriented person that prides herself in making sure you get exactly what you order. Also, she is not afraid to ask questions or pick up the phone to clarify an item you are ordering. John and Randy- “The Delivery Drivers” The newest members of the Home Delivery team, John has been with us since November 2011. He started out as a stocker, and when the store was in need of a new driver John was more than happy to step up to the plate. Randy joined the Home Delivery team in 2017. Rain or shine John and Randy deliver your groceries in a timely manner. If you need any of your items opened, softener salt placed in the basement or anything else, they are glad to help. Haddad's West Peoria Market Page 6 Others involved in our Home Delivery Service Mark -”The Boss” Mark is the owner and operator of Haddad’s. The youngest of the crew, it was his vision of a need to better serve our senior customers, that brought about the delivery program here at Haddad’s. Running the program himself for the first year, Mark learned first hand the needs of his delivery customers. One of the lessons learned was the need to find friendly and com- mitted employees to serve our customers. They needed to be constant, not someone who would come and go from week to week. Ann (Store Manager), Mark L.(Grocery)- Jim H. (Produce), John P. (Meat) Marilyn (Bakery), and Leeann (Deli)-“The Department Heads” With a combined grocery experience of over one hundred years the department heads have the know how to make sure you get the freshest highest quality products they have to offer. They are not your twenty some- thing clerk, this group of managers have the experience to answer any ques- tion you may ask or fill any request you may need. Page 7 z What do we have to offer? Haddad’s carries a large selection of name brand and house brand grocery items, as well as general merchandise, magazines, and specialty items. We even have stamps, greeting cards, and the Peoria Journal Star. Our deli department makes a large selection of salads and desserts as well as fresh lunchmeats and cheeses. Our full time cook makes a number of different entrees, which are really a nice home cooked meal ready to be reheated or frozen to enjoy later. The rest of this packet will be centered around all the different items that the deli and bakery departments have to offer. Save this packet as it makes a handy guide or menu for ordering items from these departments. Something to note when reading further, not all items are made every week. The crew in the deli likes to keep a rotating variety of items in the deli case. When calling in an order, ask if an item you are requesting is avail- able. The person taking your order will know, if it is available. It emphasizes onhow they assert their Arab identity through cooking Arab food within the U.S. landscape. It also stresseson how as contemporary Arab American memoirists, Abu Jaber and Hammad tend to bridge the gap between Eastern and Western worlds, and rely on the journey motif in the search for their identities. The purpose of this study is to show how, in their culinary diasporic memoirs, the writers enhance the nostalgia of the homeland and remembering of the beautiful sense of Jordan and Palestine, via smell and taste memory. E. ALTAHIR¹, Elgasim A. ELGASIM 2, Isam A. Mohamed AHMED 2* 1Department of Food Science and Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Omdurman Islamic University, Omdurman, Sudan 2Department of Food Science and Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Khartoum, Khartoum North. Sudan Abstract The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of heat treatment and salt concentration (0%, 5%, and 10%) on the mineral profile of Sudanese braided cheese (SBC) ripened for up to 3 months at 5±2°C. Both heat and salt treatments significantly (P < 0.05) affected the mineral profile of SBC. Braided cheese (BC) manufactured from pasteurized milk (BCPM) always had higher mineral contents (P < 0.05) than BC manufactured from raw milk (BCRM) except for Co. BCPM was superior to BCRM in the contents of Cu, K and Zn by 757%, 200% and 125% respectively. Mineral content of BC responded differently to salt concentrations (SC). Some minerals (Ca, Na, Mg, Cu and K) contents increased (P < 0.05) with the increase in SC showing overall changes that ranged between 21% and 295%. The rest of minerals tested (P, Zn, Fe and Co) decreased by 3% to 58% with the increase in SC. The Na and Fe contents of BC increased (P < 0.05) as storage periods progressed.

In the study, from different points of sale in Istanbul province 15 different types of cheese were investigated. Carbohydrate amounts of the cheeses examined were determined in two ways as theoretically (by difference method) and analytically (by HPLC). The amount of analytically determined carbohydrate of white cheese types was lower than the theoretically calculated amount (P<0.05). However, there was no statistically significant difference between the theoretical and analytically calculated carbohydrate amounts of kashar and other cheese types (P>0.05). In addition, it was determined that the amount of carbohydrates of ripened cheeses was lower than carbohydrate amounts in fresh cheeses. Consequently, analytical calculation of carbohydrate amount gives more accurate results.
