Frequently Asked Questions – 0.75% discount on all Card transactions (Fuel only)

As per the recent directives issued by the Government of India on December 8, 2016, it is proposed to provide incentives in the form of cash back @0.75% of the value of the transaction carried out through cashless means like credit cards/debit cards/Prepaid cards at petrol pumps. The below section covers the list of FAQs:

1. Is there anything special that the customer needs to do to be eligible for it?

The customer needs to transact using a valid Axis Bank Debit / Credit / Prepaid/ commercial card for purchasing fuel at the Petrol Pump.

2. How will the customer receive the Discount?

The customer will receive the Discount in maximum 7 working days of the transaction. The Discount will be refunded to the customer’s account (for Debit card transactions) / Credit Card account / Prepaid card account.

3. Will the customer get Discount at all Petrol Pumps?

The customer will receive discount for transactions done through a valid Axis Bank Debit Card / Credit Card / Prepaid Card for fuel purchases only at Petrol Pumps who are registered under Fuels stations / Petrol Pump category as per the MCC list of Visa/MasterCard/Rupay.

4. Is there any upper limit on the discount amount? Is there any limit on the transaction amount?

No, the customer will receive flat 0.75% discount for all transactions done irrespective of the transaction amount. There is no upper cap on the discount that the customer receives.

5. Will petrol pump charge me the complete amount, or the discounted price?

The customer will be charged the complete amount by the petrol pump. e.g if the customer is getting fuel for Rs. 1000, the customer will be charged Rs. 1000 by the petrol pump. Within 7 working days, the customer will receive a refund of the discount amount on the card through which the transaction was done.

6. The customer was charged a surcharge on the fuel transaction. Will 0.75% discount be applicable on surcharge as well.

As per government of India directive, no surcharge is applicable on Fuel transactions done till 31.12.16. If however the customer is still charged a surcharge by the acquiring bank, the same is being reversed by Axis Bank. The discount will be applicable on the Transaction amount only and not on the surcharge amount.

7. Is the discount applicable across all Fuel Pumps or only Company owned company operated pumps?

The discount is applicable across all Fuel Pumps categorized under Fuel stations /Petrol pumps as defined by MCC list of Visa/MasterCard/Rupay, including Franchise owned pumps.

8. What if the customer does not receive a discount for a valid Fuel transaction?

The customer will need to contact fuel merchant (fuel station) for any complaints/requests related to this.

9. What is the duration of the Discount offer?

This is applicable from 13.12.16, the end date will be as per the Government of India directive.
