Just a couple of months ago, the international news channel debuted with a new image, another one of the many that it has traveled for the last seven years since its inauguration in 2005, but the face‑lift came this time with a change of concept that many conﬁrmed, once again, the de‑ideologization of the channel. The North was no longer the SOUTH, and Telesur became ʺthe informative signal of Latin America.ʺ Informative signal of what, one might ask, right? Left?

We have known for quite some time the loss of direction of the project that aspired to become the true popular expression of Latin America and that has a lot to do with the presence of characters in key areas that aside from having no conviction or political commitment to the Venezuelan revolutionary process they do not have any shame in remaining anchored taking advantage of the state budget to then photograph themselves with candidates of the rancid right and coup.

But that opportunism is even more indecent and deplorable when it comes from the very head of the international television station, Mrs. Patricia Villegas Marín, who does not lose the opportunity to scream Bolivarianism and to impose an economic austerity that has undermined the labor rights of the workers of the plant while contracting onerous contracts that beneﬁt their personal friends such as the one signed on January 2 of this year between the company and Mrs. Adriana Orejuela Martínez.

There it stipulates that he will provide his services as ʺwriter and scriptwriter to guarantee the realization and content of the information promoted by the channel for its diﬀerent cultural spaces, guarantee the cultural contents of the television news, perform the programs related to the bicentennial of independence ʺ

It is a ﬁxed term contract that has a duration of 12 months counted from the ﬁrst (1st) of January 2012 until the thirty (30) of December 2012.

Up to this point it is perfectly understandable that, given the needs of the channel, they need specialized personnel to take charge of certain areas and look for them in other countries. After all, telesur is an international channel. The serious thing is in the clauses that refer to the salary, form of payment and ʺspecialʺ remunerations that are established in that agreement.

For this work as head of culture writing, Mrs. Orejuela will be paid the non‑negligible sum of ﬁfty‑three thousand seven hundred and thirty US dollars with 84/100 (US $ 53,730.84), which will be disbursed through monthly payments of four thousand four hundred and seventy‑ seven American dollars with 57/100 (US $ 4,477, 57).

The great detail is that this payment will be made in COLOMBIAN NATIONAL CURRENCY AT THE EXCHANGE RATE ESTABLISHED BY THE BANK OF THE REPUBLIC OF COLOMBIA AT THE TIME OF PAYMENT.

Why does a channel that receives a budget in national currency have to sacriﬁce it in payments in foreign currency to a staﬀ that works and lives in Caracas, Venezuela, be it of any nationality? Because it is important to remember that Mrs. Adriana Orejuela, a Colombian, has been working in Telesur for several years, but these ʺeconomic considerationsʺ are made when her personal friend, Mrs. Patricia Villegas, assumes the presidency of the television station.

Doing a brief exercise of accounts, those 53 thousand 730 dollars a year, at the oﬃcial exchange, mean Bs F 231,042.6, and monthly translate into Bs F 19,253.55. What position, within the scale of salaries of the channel, should a worker have to perceive that salary millionaire?

Not what to say if we make the change at the black market price, which otherwise is what Mrs. Orejuela should do when she enters those juicy proﬁts into the national territory. The 4 thousand 700 dollars become Bs F 40,298 per month.

The other great detail is that Mrs. Orejuela, does not need to enter that interesting sum to Venezuela, because here also receives a monthly and punctual salary, like any worker on the payroll, but this is adjusted to the salary scale.

Could it be that with the almost ﬁve thousand dollars a month Mrs. Orejuela does not have enough to pay for an apartment in Caracas?

The ﬁnishing touch is the clause of ʺGuaranteeʺ that stipulates that the CONTRACTOR, that is, Telesur, will assume the cost of transportation once a year, in order to carry out a family visit.

That is to say that even family visits must be paid for by the channel, when in Caracas the plant workers maintain a labor and legal bale for the recognition of their beneﬁts in terms of rest days, remunerations for extended hours, holidays, and even say the application of the new LOTT, which has already been said that only within a year will begin to apply to workers.

Reason had the Commander President Hugo Chávez when in the act of promulgation of the LOTT said that the hardest bale should be given by the revolutionary workers against the bosses disguised as red, adeco‑copeyanos bureaucrats who live undermining the achievements, scope and resources of the revolution.

This act of corruption, which we believe is not the only one, is proven by the same contract that is aached to this note, and that evidences the cronyism, the embezzlement, the lack of consideration of an administration for its budget, that is not ashamed of moment to favor particularities to the detriment of the interests of the rest of the Telesur workers.

It is also necessary to observe if the work carried out by this ʺservice providerʺ is fundamental or vital for the channel, so that such budgetary eﬀort and size should be made to leap to the exchange control rules of Venezuela, to pay it.

Corruption in one of the emblematic channels of the Bolivarian Revolution hit boom a long time ago. It should be time to apply all the possible Rʹs, so that the desire consigned by the President in his Government Plan 2012‑2018, to ʺdeepen the Revolution to an irreversible termʺ becomes a reality on earth and among the children of Bolívar.
