2021 Walk in the Word Bible Reading Plan To our Metro Family and Friends, In 2021 we are Walking in the Word together. Each quarter we will topically study the Bible. Not only is Bible study important as individuals, but as we do this as a church, we will be moving together with one mind, a like mind, that of Christ and of unity that He calls us to live in. The Word says we are to “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15 KJV We are all called to study His Word to be better Christians, for we can’t be what we don’t know. And with the Bible in hundreds of versions and languages there is no reason we should not know! We can be better disciples by knowing more and therefore living more like Christ by knowing who Jesus is. And we know Him by studying His Word for He is the Word made flesh. For John 1:1 KJV says “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And continues on to declare “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.” John 1:14a KJV To be clear, we are not just reading these verses to say we read them, but we are meditating on them to let them permeate into our hearts and minds. To change us, to help us grow into the mature disciples Christ has called us to be. So when you study– clear your heart and mind with prayer. Be in a quiet place. Even journal your thoughts and what God reveals to you as you study. Read a version that allows you to gain a clear understanding of the Word. Pastor Williams, III recommends English Standard Version (ESV), New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) and New King James Version (NKJV). We are excited that 2021 will be here soon for we know that it is only through God’s love, forgiveness, and grace that we have made it thus far. But we realize that 2020 has exhibited some of our greatest challenges as people and as a church body. This first quarter we will focus on Resting in Him, Trusting in Him, and Praising Him. Why? Because through all of our circumstances: He is still God. He never fails. He never leaves us. He never lies. He knows what is in our hearts and what’s happening in our lives. But as humans, we sometimes forget that. These scriptures are a reminder, or even an introduction to new saints, that He is God. He is our Calm in the midst of chaos and uncertainty. So let’s Go Metro! Walk in the Word! #WalkInTheWord 2021 Walk in the Word Bible Reading Plan Resting In Him As we began the New Year, we will reflect on giving our worries and problems to the Lord. God can handle and desires to handle all of our burdens.
