At 10-8 overall and 4-3 in the MWC, BYU hopes to Oct. 9* UNLV (30-25, 30-23, 23-30, 30-21) W 3-1 gain some momentum before heading to No. 14 Utah on Saturday. BYU Nov. 18-20* Mountain West Tournament (Fort Collins, CO) came out strong against the Cowgirls, taking the first game 30-27 but could not capitalize on the Nov. 26 Eastern Washington 7 p.m. early lead, losing the next three games, 28-30, 31-29, 27-30. Lexi Brown and Erica Lott led the Cougars with 16 kills apiece while Lauren Richards recorded her fifth double-double on the year with Dec. 2-5 NCAA 1st and 2nd Rounds TBA 10 kills and 55 assists. Dec. 9-12 NCAA Regionals TBA In the second half of the Front Range trip, BYU was swept in Fort Collins by the Rams, the first three- game loss of the year for the Cougars. However, the grade of a C- is a 1.7 grade-point average and is not considered passing for a student’s major classes. A traditional grade of a C takes into account a percentage grade ranging from 70 to 79. According to Executive Order No. 1037 of the California State University policies from the Chancellor’s Office, no other grading symbols besides the traditional grades of A, B, C, D or F can be implemented. Special authorization for the use of non-traditional grades of A, B, C, NC or CR-NC can be approved by the executive vice chancellor and chief academic officer. The executive order also states, “To the extent permitted by Section 40104.1 of Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations, each (CSU) campus may use plus and minus designations in combination with traditional letter grades of A, B, C and D.” The plus and minus grading system is not mandatory, but an option faculty has.

Dear Participants, Family Members, Friends and Fans, After a successful event here in Humble last season, the Great West returns to Turner Stadium for the 2013 Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The 250 student-athletes who are competing at this state of the art track and field complex have hopes of advancing to the NCAA regional competition in two weeks. The staff at Houston Baptist University has done a wonderful job preparing for this championship, which should be the peak of the season for the competing student-athletes and coaches from each Great West institution. We are looking for a very competitive outdoor championship as many league records fell and new champions were crowned during our indoor championship in late February just south of here at the University of Houston. Host Houston Baptist captured both the men’s and women’s indoor titles, stopping reigning champion Utah Valley which finished as runner-up on both the men’s and women’s side. With six institutions competing this weekend, we anticipate having several student-athletes advance to NCAA regional competition either in Greensboro, N.C, or Austin, Texas, with an opportunity to compete in the NCAA Championships, June 5-8 in Eugene, Ore.
