I heard the bullets whistling by— They whistled past; I did not know why. Despite the gore it’s all those sounds That whizzed and zipped and brought men down, Of bullets thudding into flesh That keeps alive the ghoulish mess. It’s surprising, yes, that time has quelled The sights of troops that spilled and fell: Through Abrams, Barrett, Cohn and, Dane, Through Wills, and Ox, and Young, and Zane. The bullets pounded and pierced the air, They killed and killed and didn’t care. So many heroes, so many friends So many lives had come to an end. Yet I survived and don’t know why,

Mayor Jessop agreed to move back after a pros and cons list revealed there were more reasons to than not to. When she moved back to Hildale in July 2017, Mayor Jessop began a grassroots coalition to start reconstructing the community. The coalition slowly gained support and as election season started to come around, she said she knew it was her responsibility to run for mayor. Although she has no affiliation with the religion anymore, she considers the people of that community to be her tribe. “I had a knowledge that it was my turn to stand up for my people,” she said. “In the last two years, we have been able to help hundreds more that have chosen to come out and be a part of regular society and we’ve been able to help clear a path for them and make it an easier transition to them.” Mayor Jessop added that during her time as mayor, most of what she has accomplished has been simply through listening. “Mainly what I did is I shut my mouth and I listened,” she said. “I listened to the people – what is it that you need?
