Li estas la dua sinsekva Azia ricevinto de ĉi tiu honora titolo. Hori Jasuo: La Esperantisto de la Jaro 2018 La Ondo de Esperanto en 1998 iniciatis ĉiujaran proklamadon de la Esperant- isto de la Jaro. Al ĉi tiu projekto aliĝis reprezentantoj de diversaj tendencoj en la Esperanto-komunumo kaj sendependaj kompetentuloj. Kiel la unua laŭreato en 1998 estis elektita William Auld. En 1999 lin sekvis Kep- pel Enderby. En 2000 estis distingitaj tri personoj: Hans Bakker, Mauro La Torre kaj Jouko Lindstedt. Poste laŭreatiĝis Osmo Buller (2001), Michel Duc Goninaz (2002), Dafydd ab Iago (2003), Helmar Frank (2004), Povilas Jegorovas (2005), Bertilo Wennergren (2006), Peter Zilvar (2007), Ilona Koutny (2008), Aleksander Korĵenkov (2009), Katalin Kováts (2010), Dennis Keefe (2011), Peter Baláž (2012), Mark Fettes (2013), Mireille Grosjean (2014), Chuck Smith (2015), Stefan MacGill (2016) kaj Trezoro Huang Yinbao (2017). En 2018 la elektado de la Esperantisto de la Jaro okazis por la 21a fojo. Hori Jasuo, 77-jara universitata instruisto el Japanio, eksa estrarano de Japana Esperanto-Instituto (1993–2014) kaj de UEA (2007–2010), redaktoro de La Revuo Orienta kaj poste de Esperanto en Azio, prezidanto de Komisiono pri Azia Esper- anto-Movado (KAEM) en la jaroj 2001–2006 estas elektita la Esperantisto de la Jaro 2018 pro la lanĉo kaj daŭra funkciigo de la populara legoprojekto “Esperan- to-Sumoo”, kiu en novembro 2018 atingis la 55an sesion kun pli ol 300 legemuloj el 33 landoj, kaj pro la regula verkado kaj eldonado de la esearo Raportoj el Japanio, kies 21a volumo aperis ĉi-jare ĉe lia eldonejo Horizonto. Interlinguistics and Esperanto studies Paths to the scholarly literature Detlev Blanke Humboldt University Berlin A significant number of publications on interlinguistics and Esperanto studies would be improved if their authors had a more thorough knowledge of the significant scholarly literature. However, it is often difficult even for the specialist to find his or her way among current and older scholarly studies dealing with various aspects of planned languages ([“artificial”] world [auxiliary] languages). The current study is intended to facilitate access to the scholarly literature by drawing the reader’s attention to the myriad sources of material worthy of use by the researcher. Particularly included, in addition to monographs, are such sources as anthologies, Festschriften, conference proceedings, university dissertations, and planned-language periodicals both current and older. Especially valuable for up-to-date information are general and specialized interlinguistics bibliographies, bibliographically oriented bulletins, and periodically published international bibliographies with sections on interlinguistics. Yielding most information is the bibliography on modern languages and literatures published by the Modern Language Association (MLA) in New York, which registers the newest materials annually. Specialized libraries, more and more easily consulted on-line, provide large quantities of materials worthy of research. The Internet is playing a growing role in making literature in the field available. Scholarly literature in interlinguistics and Esperanto studies is steadily growing. Finding one’s way around it is increasingly difficult even for experienced researchers, especially if the goal is a literature search on specific problems. For those new to the field, the situation is particularly complicated if the goal is to produce something original.

As a linguistic phenomenon, that is, a language in continuous use for almost a century but without national roots, it has also had little systematic study, though a considerable literature cn the subject exists in Esperanto itself. There are now several native speakers of Esperanto, who might merit special investigation. It would also be useful to have more extensive study of psychological and sociological aspects of the Esperanto speech community. Esperanto has an extensive literature, original and translated, little known by outside scholars. There is also a need for the study of Esperanto's practical application and its potential as a solution to international language problems. Some attention bas been given to the pedagogy of Esperanto, but more work is needed. The language is seldom mentioned in major reference works or adequately represented in libraries, and for these reasons it is often overlooked by scholars.

ABSTRACT Studies of interlinguistics written in ethnic languages – particularly research on planned languages – are often insufficiently grounded in the essential scholarly literature. English-language studies frequently fail to consider scholarly literature in German, Russian, French, and other languages. An important part of this specialized literature is written in planned languages (particularly Esperanto) and all too frequently remains unknown. For lack of knowledge of actual planned-language praxis, misunderstandings arise, for example on the relations between a language and a language project, a language and a language community, language and culture, expressibility in planned languages, and so on. For scientifically valid studies, specialized materials written in planned languages (approximately 95 % of them in Esperanto) are essential. This article provides an overview of the principal accessible sources of scholarly literature on interlinguistics and Esperantology and, inter alia, gives information on specialized libraries and archives, bibliographies, major monographs, anthologies, conferences and conference proceedings, university studies and dissertations, periodicals, internet materials, and handbooks

L. Zamenhof published the first book detailing Esperanto, the Unua Libro, in 1887. Zamenhof's goal was to create an easy-to-learn and politically neutral language that transcends nationality and would foster peace and international understanding between people with different regional and/or national languages. Estimates of Esperanto speakers range from 10,000 to 2,000,000 active or fluent speakers, as well as native speakers, that is, people who learned Esperanto from their parents as one of their native languages. Esperanto is spoken in about 115 countries. Usage is particularly high in Europe, East Asia, and South America.[2] The first World Congress of Esperanto was organized in France in 1905. Since then congresses have been held in various countries every year with the exception of years in which there were world wars. Although no country has adopted Esperanto officially, Esperanto was recommended by the French Academy of Sciences in 1921 and recognized in 1954 by UNESCO (which later, in 1985, also recommended it to its member states).

ABSTRACT Studies of interlinguistics written in ethnic languages – particularly research on planned languages – are often insufficiently grounded in the essential scholarly literature. English-language studies frequently fail to consider scholarly literature in German, Russian, French, and other languages. An important part of this specialized literature is written in planned languages (particularly Esperanto) and all too frequently remains unknown. For lack of knowledge of actual planned-language praxis, misunderstandings arise, for example on the relations between a language and a language project, a language and a language community, language and culture, expressibility in planned languages, and so on. For scientifically valid studies, specialized materials written in planned languages (approximately 95 % of them in Esperanto) are essential. This article provides an overview of the principal accessible sources of scholarly literature on interlinguistics and Esperantology and, inter alia, gives information on specialized libraries and archives, bibliographies, major monographs, anthologies, conferences and conference proceedings, university studies and dissertations, periodicals, internet materials, and handbooks
