1. THE DEANERY STRUCTURE 1.1. The Deanery provides an important two-way line of communication and information between the parishes and the Diocese for collaborative efforts and the sharing of best- practices in a radian. The deanery facilitates the convening of priests (pastors, parochial vicars, active, and retired), deacons, and administrators of parishes of the Deanery, at least four times a year, for meetings to discuss and achieve a uniform application of diocesan policies, programs, and broad implementation of the pastoral initiatives of the Bishop, as well as uniform observance of the diocesan statues and policy. The deanery structure fosters cooperative endeavors and the sharing of resources between parishes and the Diocese as well as between parishes themselves. 1.2. A direct line of communication is to be maintained between the Presbyteral Council and the local deaneries. Each deanery will have an Ex-Officio representative on the Presbyteral Council, who will share information from meetings with the deaneries as well as bring suggestions and concerns to the Presbyteral Council. While each deanery is to meet at least four times a year, some deaneries choose to meet monthly which helps to keep open communication between the Presbyteral Council and the local deaneries. To help inform this conversation, it is important that minutes from the deanery meetings be sent as soon as possible to the Office of the Chancellor for dissemination to Presbyteral Council members. 1.3. There are five deaneries within the Diocese. The Deaneries are divided along county lines, with the exception of Hampden County being split into “East” and “West”. -

7 DIOCESE OF EAST ANGLIA Diocesan policy on THE DEANERY AND THE ROLE OF THE DEAN THE DEANERY How is the universal Catholic Church structured? The whole people of God is a communion of dioceses, each entrusted to the pastoral leadership and care of a bishop. The diocese is then ‘divided into distinct parts or parishes’ (Code of Canon Law, 374.1). Each parish is by nature an integral part of the diocese. What then is a deanery? ‘To foster pastoral care by means of common action, several neighbouring parishes can be joined together in special groupings, such as deaneries’ (Code of Canon Law, 374.2). Each deanery is led by a Dean appointed by the bishop to act in his name. In a scattered diocese such as ours, with many small parishes, working together in deaneries can be very fruitful, not only for the mutual support and care of the clergy, but also for pastoral and spiritual collaboration at local level. In each deanery, there are to be regular meetings of the clergy, priests and deacons, diocesan and religious, of that grouping of parishes. All are expected to attend such meetings and participate as fully as possible in deanery life and work. In each deanery, there are to be regular meetings of lay representatives of each parish with all the clergy of the deanery, so as to facilitate active participation by lay people in local pastoral action and decision-making. Episcopal Church Style Guide The official name of the church is The Episcopal Church. When writing about the Episcopal Church, please follow these guidelines: * In the first reference, the full name of the church is preferred: The Episcopal Church. * When referring to church members, the term “Episcopalians” is preferred. We elect a Presiding Bishop, who is our chief pastor and primate of the church. Chosen by the House of Bishops from one of its members, the Presiding Bishop serves for nine years, or until normal retirement age, if that occurs first. In formal usage, he or she is known as “The Most Reverend”,” usually abbreviated to “The Most Rev.” His or her first name (or preferred forename) is always used, together with an initial if applicable (e.g., “The Most Rev. John A. Smith”, or “The Most Rev. A. John Smith”). All other bishops should be addressed as above, but using the form “The Rt. Rev.” Priests and deacons are referred to as “The Rev.” Our church is organized into dioceses, and there is at least one diocese in each state. However, some states have two or more dioceses. For example, we have a Diocese of New Jersey, but in the northern part of the state there is a Diocese of Newark. Likewise, there is a Diocese of Texas, but there are several other dioceses in that state. The Bishop with jurisdiction of a diocese is usually known as the “diocesan bishop”, and is sometimes known as the “Ordinary.” He or she may have other bishops to assist, who are referred to as “bishops suffragan” and are elected in the same way that bishops are, by representatives of the members of the diocese. -

M. of Ohio at its 2071h Annual Communication held on October 14 and 15, 2016, necessitated the printing of certain pages which should be inserted as follows: Replace pages 33 and 34. The revised Code Section 6.01 increases the annual per capita from $15.00 to $17.20 ($15.00 to the Grand Lodge of Ohio and $2.20 to the Ohio Masonic Home). Replace pages 103 and 104, 105 and 106. The revised Code Section 34.01(c) makes it permissible to use Masonic emblems in Masonic printed publications to distinguish businesses owned by or connected with a Master Mason. The revised Code Section 34.01 (f) has been removed in its entirety which makes it permissible for a Mason to own an unauthorized ritual. The revised Code Section 34.02 (b) and (c) now makes it permissible for a Lodge or Temple Company, under strict provisions and with the approval of the Grand Master, to rent its undedicated areas of the building for a special event where alcohol may be served. Replace pages 123 and 124, 125 and 126. The revised Chapter 43 - Trial Commission pages corrects some previous typographical errors and adds a reporting function when Trial appeals are made. Abandoned Temple: Rehabilitation of Masonic Temple in Winnipeg by Noushin Nayyeri A thesis submitted to the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Masters of Architecture Carleton University Ottawa, Ontario ©2016 Noushin Nayyeri ABANDONED TEMPLE REHABILITATION OF MASONIC TEMPLE IN WINNIPEG ABSTRACT The Masonic Temple is a vital Winnipeg building that has been vacant and exposed to deterioration for over a decade. This thesis will explore strategies for rescuing this building and intervening in the heritage site such that the building becomes involved with the city once again. The thesis will explore the cultural value of the Masonic Temple, its history, and its current condition. It will propose ways to preserve the façade as a container whilst opening the interior of the building to host another ‘building’ and program. This proposal will reflect on the symbolism, strict architectural principles, and lasting secrecy of the Free Masons. These ideas will be a tool that shapes the program and will include an inventive series of spaces for various functions related to local art and architecture. 2010 Commission Report BAJA CALIFORNIA The two groups representing the Grand Lodge of Baja California agreed at the meeting of the Commission last year to sit down with the assistance of selected mediators and work for a resolution of their differences. This was accomplished and M :.W :. Franco Magdaleno Soto representing one faction, and M :.W :. Bro. Hector Pablo Meixueiro, representing the other faction signed the "California Agreement" which summarized the terms for unification of the two groups. Following that meeting, the Grand Lodge group headed by G.M. Soto ratified the agreement The Grand Lodge group headed by G.M Meixueiro would not concur with the agreement. During the year, several attempts to encourage completion of the ratification process were unsuccessful. Both Grand Masters attended the current meeting of the Commission, and both agreed to negotiate BOLIVIA A new Grand Lodge has surfaced in Bolivia, named the Grand Lodge of York Rite for Bolivia, located in the Department (state) of Cochabamba. It was founded in June of 2008 and composed of members from the Grand Lodge of Bolivia. There is no evidence of them being constituted by a regular Grand Lodge, nor is there a pact or treaty that the Grand Lodge of Bolivia will share the jurisdiction with them. The claim of this Grand Lodge is that the Constitution of Bolivia gives them, and no one else, sovereignty in the Department of Cochabamba. It is suspected that this may be true politically, but not Masonicly. This Grand Lodge has not been recognized by any other Grand Lodges, but they claim legitimacy by virtue of the fact that their members come from Lodges of the Grand Lodge of Bolivia, which is recognized by the United Grand Lodge of England.
