Directions to Shiningford, Carsington, Derbyshire DE4 4PS from the North via M1:
Leave the M1 at junction 28. Take the A38 to Ripley and then the A610 to Ambergate. Follow the A6 to Belper, and the A517 to Ashbourne. Just after travelling through the village of Hulland Ward, turn right at the village hall for Carsington Water. Follow this sign for approximately a mile and then turn right, still following the brown signs to Carsington Water. Pass along Carsington Water and continue past the entrance to the junction at the end of the road. Turn right past the Knockerdown Inn on your right. After approximately 1.5 miles, virtually opposite the left hand turn to Carsington Village, take the right hand turn into the Sheepwash car park. You will see the sign for Shiningford. Bear immediately right before the car park height restriction onto a tarmac driveway. Follow this for just under half a mile and then turn right into the private driveway for Shiningford as indicated by the sign. For guests staying in The Manor or Tack Room, continue straight ahead into the courtyard car park. For guests staying in The Stables, follow the drive around to the left, rather than straight on into the courtyard. The car park is to the rear of the swimming pool. Through the gate you'll see the hot tub and entrance for The Stables.

Leave the M1 at junction 23A. Follow the A50 towards Uttoxeter/Alton Towers. At Sudbury, leave the A50 for the A515 and travel for approximately 8 miles until you reach the large roundabout entering Ashbourne. At the large roundabout continue straight on, over a mini roundabout and straight on through a set of traffic lights. At the next set of traffic lights turn left, sign posted Wirksworth B5035. Follow these sign posts to Wirksworth/Carsington Water until you reach Kniveton Village. You will travel down a hill into the village. Continue past the Red Lion pub on your left and the church on your right. Pass through Kniveton village and continue straight on, climbing up the hill on the other side. Follow the road for another mile, past the Knockerdown Inn on your right. After approximately 1.5 miles, virtually opposite the left hand turn to Carsington Village, you will see the Shiningford sign. Take the right hand turn into the Sheepwash car park.
