As an academy, we are required to set and publish our own admissions criteria. Admission applications are managed through the Derbyshire Co-ordinated Admissions Scheme and are in line with the Derbyshire Admission arrangements for community and voluntary controlled schools. Individual pupils who have a statement of special educational needs which names Dovedale Primary School will be admitted. In deciding on admissions to Dovedale Primary School, the following order of priority will be adopted. 1. I am directed by the Secretary of State to say that consideration has been given to the report of the Inspector, Paul K Jackson BArch (Hons) RIBA, who held a public local inquiry which opened on 4 November 2014 into your client’s appeal against the decision of Bolsover District Council (the Council) to refuse planning permission for a windfarm comprising 6 wind turbines, control building, anemometer mast and associated access tracks on a site approximately 2.5km south of Bolsover between the villages of Palterton and Shirebrook, in accordance with application reference 12/00159/FULEA, dated 25 April 2012. 2. On 20 June 2014 the appeal was recovered for the Secretary of State's determination, in pursuance of section 79 of and paragraph 3 of Schedule 6 to the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, because it involves a renewable energy development. Inspector’s recommendation and summary of the decision 3. The Inspector recommended that the appeal be dismissed and planning permission refused. For the reasons given below, the Secretary of State agrees with the Inspector’s conclusions except where indicated otherwise, and agrees with his recommendation. The Early Bryologists of South West Yorkshire
THE EARLY BRYOLOGISTS OF SOUTH WEST YORKSHIRE by Tom Blockeel [Bulletin of the British Bryological Society, 38, 38-48 (July 1981)] This account brings together information which I have encountered during work on the bryology of South West Yorkshire (v.-c. 63). It lays no claim to originality, but is rather a collation of biographical data from disparate sources, and is presented here in the hope that it may be of interest to readers. I have confined myself largely to those botanists of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries who made significant contributions to the bryology of v.-c. 63. If there are any omissions or other deficiencies, I should be grateful to hear of them, and of any additional information which readers may have to hand. The Parish of Halifax has been a centre of bryological tradition for over two hundred years. It was there that there appeared, in 1775, the first contribution of substance to South Yorkshire bryology, in the form of an anonymous catalogue of plants published as an appendix to the Rev. J. Watson’s History and Antiquities of the Parish of Halifax. Traditionally, the catalogue was attributed to James Bolton (d. 1799) of Stannary, near Halifax, whose life was researched by Charles Crossland at the beginning of this century (Crump & Crossland, 1904; Crossland, 1908, 1910). Bolton was the author of fine illustrated botanical works, notably Filices Britannicae and the History of Fungusses growing about Halifax, the latter being the first British work exclusively devoted to fungi. However, his work extended beyond the purely botanical. Shortly after the completion of the History of Fungusses, which was dedicated to and sponsored by Henry, the sixth earl of Gainsborough, Bolton wrote to his friend John Ingham: ‘You must know, John, that I have been so long tilted between roses and toadstools, and back again from toadstools to roses, that I am wearied out with both for the present, and wish (by way of recreation only) to turn for awhile to some other page in the great volume. -

Key Stage 2 Roman Wonders Session 1: Invasion Handling objects Preserved sole from the boots of a Roman solider Aim The aim of this session is to explore the evidence in the Wonders of the Peak gallery to discover the impact of the Roman invasion on the local population. Children will do this exploring the museum’s collection of objects from this time and considering the dilemma’s faced by the British leaders. They will explore the similarities and differences in artefacts, particularly jewellery to see if the Romans and British adopted pieces of each other’s culture. They will then design a piece of jewellery for a Roman or British leader. Information about agencies to be shared in ‘Making Enquiries under S.42’ training 1. Who are we? Environmental Health Service 2. Who are we? Each Local Authority, with the exception of Derbyshire County Council (DCC), has environmental health professionals in the form of Environmental Health Officers (EHOs)/ Environmental Health Practitioners (EHPs)/ Environmental Health Technical Officers (EHTO), Enforcement Officers who can enforce various types of public health, housing, pollution, food and health and safety legislation. They are primarily regulatory officers but do play a major role in protecting public health, maintaining a safe environment and have both technical and scientific expertise to offer support and advice to partnering agencies, businesses, community groups and the public. 3. What do we do? (The below text sets out some of the relevant areas in s.42 enquiries, but is not limited to these items). EHOs/EHPs/EHTOs/Enforcement Officers have a regulatory role in ensuring public safety in a wide number of areas; being responsible for carrying out measures to protect public health, enforcing legislation relating to the natural and built environments that benefit human health and providing support to minimize health and safety hazards. Particular statutory obligations relate to domestic home environments to ensure ‘fitness for habitation’ by the removal of serious hazards (known as Category 1 hazards*) to achieve the ideal standards within a property. The risk of harm to a person may arise given physical and psychological hazards in the home environment i.e. structural collapse, carbon monoxide from defective appliances, or excess cold from poorly heated and insulated homes. Table 1 below indicates some of the key hazard areas which are checked when a property is assessed by an EH Professional. -

THE UNIVERSITY OF HULL Reconstructing Palaeoenvironments of the White Peak Region of Derbyshire, Northern England being a Thesis submitted for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the University of Hull by Simon John Kitcher MPhysGeog May 2014 Declaration I hereby declare that the work presented in this thesis is my own, except where otherwise stated, and that it has not been previously submitted in application for any other degree at any other educational institution in the United Kingdom or overseas. ii Abstract Sub-fossil pollen from Holocene tufa pool sediments is used to investigate middle – late Holocene environmental conditions in the White Peak region of the Derbyshire Peak District in northern England. The overall aim is to use pollen analysis to resolve the relative influence of climate and anthropogenic landscape disturbance on the cessation of tufa production at Lathkill Dale and Monsal Dale in the White Peak region of the Peak District using past vegetation cover as a proxy. Modern White Peak pollen – vegetation relationships are examined to aid semi- quantitative interpretation of sub-fossil pollen assemblages. Moss-polsters and vegetation surveys incorporating novel methodologies are used to produce new Relative Pollen Productivity Estimates (RPPE) for 6 tree taxa, and new association indices for 16 herb taxa. RPPE’s of Alnus, Fraxinus and Pinus were similar to those produced at other European sites; Betula values displaying similarity with other UK sites only. RPPE’s for Fagus and Corylus were significantly lower than at other European sites. Pollen taphonomy in woodland floor mosses in Derbyshire and East Yorkshire is investigated. -

Bolsover District Council, Chesterfield Borough Council and North East Derbyshire District Council shared an Urban Design Officer in a joint role, to provide design expertise to each local authority and who was assigned to take the project forward.
