The following countries have provided updates to certain mail services: Mauritius UPDATE: Mauritius Post has advised that the Government of Mauritius has announced the easing of COVID-related restrictions as of July 1, 2021, subject to strict adherence to sanitary protocols and measures. On July 15, 2021, Mauritius will gradually open its international borders. However, COVID-19 continues to have a direct impact on international inbound and outbound mails to and from Mauritius. Therefore, the previously announced provisions and force majeure continue to apply for all inbound and outbound international letter-post, parcel-post and EMS items. From March 25, 2020 to April 6, 2020, the Cayman Islands Postal Service is closing all operations to comply with a government direction that all but essential workers remain at home during this period. Chad: Société Tchadienne des Postes et de l'Epargne (STPE) has advised that the government of Chad has decided to close its land borders and suspend all flights, except for cargo, from March 19, 2020 until further notice. Stamps That might Have Been 2 Introduction his exhibit features highlights of the prominent television, newspaper and magazine coverage of the release of the U.S. Surgeon General’s Report on Smoking and Health on T January 11, 1964, and includes more than 130 anti-smoking postage stamps and philatelic covers issued by 65 countries. Originally a traveling exhibit, it was created as part of a campaign to issue a special postage stamp in 2014 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Surgeon General’s Report and to honor Luther Terry, MD, the ninth Surgeon General of the United States (1961-1965), best known for his warnings against the dangers of and the impact of tobacco use on health. The stamps were collected by James Lutschg, MD, a pulmonary disease physician in Baton Rouge, LA, and donated to the University of Alabama Center for the Study of Tobacco and Society. 3 1 – Publication of the Surgeon General’s Report on Smoking n January 11, 1964, at a crowded press conference in Washington, D.C., United States Surgeon General Luther Terry released Smoking and Health, a report of an advisory O committee that had been charged to review all of the published scientific research on the health effects of smoking.
