CARLISLE RFC LTD ADMISSION BY PROGRAMME £5 OFFICIAL MATCH PROGRAMME MATCH OFFICIAL RFU NORTHERN DIVISION NORTH LANCS & CUMBRIA LEAGUE 2016 / 2017 SEASON Proud to be supporting Community Rugby at Carlisle RFC Carlisle RFC appreciate your generous support INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROGRAMME As a consequence of Storm Desmond that wreaked havoc not only our club, but the whole of the eastern area of Carlisle in the locality of Warwick Road and elsewhere, we are not able to produce a complete match programme and newsreel in the same format as has been the norm in recent years. The printer, along with all the other contents of the club was swamped in several feet of water, destroying all within. For this season the programme will be in a standard format and produced for each 1st XV home league and cup matches. With each issue will come a four page centre insert, and it follows that we will not be able to provide the newsreel service that has been a feature of the match programme in seasons past. In the circumstances we hope you understand. We would hope to return to normal programme productions as soon as possible. As and when information has been available it has been published on the club website, and this will continue in the future until such time as a sense of normality returns to the environment. Total reinstatement of the club house and changing rooms was not a viable proposition. It has been made perfectly clear that flood insurance for buildings in their present format will not be available going forward. Carlisle RFC are not alone with this dilemma; our friends at the Squash Club and the Chatsworth Tennis Club are in a similar position. Temporary repairs have been effected to the changing room complex with some added bar facilities and kitchen provision. At the time of writing, work is ongoing to provide some ba- sic hospitality space in what was the lounge and the extension, both opening out onto the patio area. Limited bar facilities will also be installed . Long term (up to 2 years), and in association with Sport England and others, the plan is to develop new facilities on the site of the current grandstand. Its is intended that it will incorporate seated viewing area of the main pitch. The ground floor will be raised and constructed so that, in the event of a future flood, then it can be easily sanitised and washed out. All other facilities will be on the first floor. Sport England are supportive of this ambition, and the suggestion that we combine with other sporting organisations that use to the complex, was favourably received by SE in discussions we have had with them. There is a strong possibility that the new build provision will be linked to both the Squash Club and Chatsworth Tennis Club, thereby creating first rate facilities for up to seven or eight sporting organisations who are currently associated with our Warwick Road site..
